allardjd 1,853
He could have bought a pretty expensive watch for what misreading the time cost him. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1332563/Amateur-pilot-flies-Cessna-29-plane-RAF-formation-marking-Queens-Birthday.html?ito=feeds-newsxml John
stu7708 244
Good thing that little cessna was squaking.. would most likely have been a much worse situation if ATC hadn't seen it and intervened...
GabethePilot 1
See - that's what happens when you get your transitions and STARS mixed up.... I'm surprised he was only fined £2000... no suspension of license or anything. Crikey... that was an expensive flight!
Tim_A 997
Expensive way to misread a NOTAM! My guess is he saw zulu time on the restriction, and thought it was local time (1 hour different in the Summer) HOWEVER, one might wonder, if ATC ordered the Cessna pilot to climb, why did they not warn him off from entering the restricted airspace in the first place? Oh, and how on earth can the comments manage to turn this incident into a Boeing vs Airbus slanging match? Puh-lease!
hurricanemk1c 195
I've noticed how two completly un-related incidents (this and the Citation accident at BHX) are poured together to make one thing - Cessna's either crash or do a near-miss. Anyway, it's a good job Red 1 (or whatever they call the leader these days...) was on the lookout
Tim_A 997
Anyway, it's a good job Red 1 (or whatever they call the leader these days...) was on the lookout Red Spot (or at least it could have been if he wasn't looking...)
