rob16584 42
A few shots from my flight this afternoon, the flight plan is at the bottom for anyone who would like to fly the route. We departed from CAE4, Tsacha Lake at Dawn. The aircraft was already waiting for me when I got there. I'd been told to expect a fantastic sunrise and some brilliant scenery along the way Here we are lumbering into the sky, we used all of the runway to get airborne Once a good climb rate of 1,000fpm was established it was time to turn to the first waypoint at Itcha It wasn't long before the clouds were coming in, fortunately we began a turn to Mt Downton and skirted along the side of the clouds View from the cockpit and the wing. It would have been nice to be on the wing, but the cockpit was warmer After Mt Downton we headed west towards the cluster of Mt Scot, Mizzen Mountain and Far Mountain, then headed across the lowlands to Beef Peak Once we had passed Beef Peak it was time to head north-west towards Mt Jones, along the way we passed over the High Tanya Peak and lots of small rivers and inlets The clouds didn't seem to want to clear today, but at least we had good visibility The next flight leg was the longest and headed east towards Mt Swannell and took us over a few lakes and lots of flat land. I was wishing the DC3 had floats incase we needed to ditch for any reason Along the way dawn began to turn into morning as the skies became a cold blue But the clouds just did not want to move, the lack of any wind today didn't help to shift them but kept flight conditions smooth for the passengers Once we left Mt Swannell it was time to head back to Tsacha Lake. By keeping the mountains of Tutial, Fawnie Dome and Tascha on the left we were able to make a nice smooth descent in preparation for landing On short finals now, the large rock at the end of the runway guided us in for our final approach Moments from touchdown Landing took up a bit more of the ruwnay than I had anticipated, but following a short taxi the passengers were able to disembark and do whatever it is they do out here Thanks for viewing, the add-ons used were: REX for weather textures ASX for the weather Just Flight DC-3 Legends of Flight ORBX Pacific Fjords Plan-G If you would like to fly the route, copy and paste the below into notepad and save it as a .pln file and place it into your saved flights folder in FSX <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><SimBase.Document Type="AceXML" version="1,0"> <Descr>AceXML Document</Descr> <FlightPlan.FlightPlan> <Title>CAE4 to CAE4</Title> <FPType>VFR</FPType> <CruisingAlt>9000</CruisingAlt> <DepartureID>CAE4</DepartureID> <DepartureLLA>N53° 1' 5.202516",W124° 50' 59.767699",+003448.00</DepartureLLA> <DestinationID>CAE4</DestinationID> <DestinationLLA>N53° 1' 8.87902",W124° 50' 37.164724",+003448.00</DestinationLLA> <Descr>CAE4, CAE4</Descr> <DeparturePosition>6</DeparturePosition> <DepartureName>Tsacha Lake</DepartureName> <DestinationName>Tsacha Lake</DestinationName> <AppVersion> <AppVersionMajor>10</AppVersionMajor> <AppVersionBuild>61472</AppVersionBuild> </AppVersion> <ATCWaypoint id="CAE4"> <ATCWaypointType>Airport</ATCWaypointType> <WorldPosition>N53° 1' 5.202516",W124° 50' 59.767699",+003448.00</WorldPosition> <ICAO> <ICAOIdent>CAE4</ICAOIdent> </ICAO> </ATCWaypoint> <ATCWaypoint id="NW3"> <ATCWaypointType>User</ATCWaypointType> <WorldPosition>N52° 46' 46.22406",W124° 45' 53.503418",+005151.00</WorldPosition> <Descr>Itcha</Descr> </ATCWaypoint> <ATCWaypoint id="MtDwntn"> <ATCWaypointType>User</ATCWaypointType> <WorldPosition>N52° 41' 58.890381",W124° 50' 40.246582",+007041.00</WorldPosition> <Descr>Mt Downton</Descr> </ATCWaypoint> <ATCWaypoint id="MtSct"> <ATCWaypointType>User</ATCWaypointType> <WorldPosition>N52° 42' 34.829407",W125° 12' 30.366211",+005906.00</WorldPosition> <Descr>Mt Scot</Descr> </ATCWaypoint> <ATCWaypoint id="FrMnt"> <ATCWaypointType>User</ATCWaypointType> <WorldPosition>N52° 49' 30.620728",W125° 22' 13.740234",+005531.00</WorldPosition> <Descr>Far Mountain</Descr> </ATCWaypoint> <ATCWaypoint id="BfPk"> <ATCWaypointType>User</ATCWaypointType> <WorldPosition>N52° 37' 50.022583",W125° 43' 53.972168",+005928.00</WorldPosition> <Descr>Beef Peak</Descr> </ATCWaypoint> <ATCWaypoint id="MtJns"> <ATCWaypointType>User</ATCWaypointType> <WorldPosition>N52° 55' 49.552917",W126° 28' 23.649902",+005095.00</WorldPosition> <Descr>Mt Jones</Descr> </ATCWaypoint> <ATCWaypoint id="MtSwnl"> <ATCWaypointType>User</ATCWaypointType> <WorldPosition>N53° 20' 14.758301",W125° 17' 56.660156",+004321.00</WorldPosition> <Descr>Mt Swannell</Descr> </ATCWaypoint> <ATCWaypoint id="CAE4"> <ATCWaypointType>Airport</ATCWaypointType> <WorldPosition>N53° 1' 8.87902",W124° 50' 37.164724",+003448.00</WorldPosition> <ICAO> <ICAOIdent>CAE4</ICAOIdent> </ICAO> </ATCWaypoint> </FlightPlan.FlightPlan> </SimBase.Document>
ddavid 149
Beam me up, Scotty!! Nice plan - first time I've seen a round trip plan - Plan-G sure is clever, eh? Great pics, too - thanks for sharing, Rob. BTW, did you use Carb Heating... Cheers - Dai. cool:
rob16584 42
Thanks dai. I turned carb heating on halfway through. I forgot to turn it on at all in an earlier flight and had a problem or two! Plan G is great, i've had it installed for ages but only bothered to sit down and read the manual over the last couple of weeks. Wish I had done it sooner now

stu7708 244
Stunning shots Rob. I need to give the DC-3 a good run through one of these days. Still trying to master the art of taxiing her to the runway. :th_smiles73:
