A Lovely Pair Of Jugs

Recommended Posts

Bet I'll get a few hits in this thread with a title like that :yikes:

OK so after stumbling on the video at the end of this post, and also with Sabre babbling on at me about how great his A2A Accusim planes are, I decided to bite the bullet and get one myself.

I got the A2A P47 Razorback, (very expensive, but to hell with it! I can't take it with me when I croak anyway "LOL") just praying that the wife doesn't find out before I've sorted out the credit card for this month :faint:

Here she is warming up on the runway at Southampton

First flight was out over the English Channel, that seemed very fitting for this aircraft! as I would think that Thunderbolts were a common sight over the channel during the 1940's

Almost dusk and time to head back home.

Safely down again at Southampton as the daylight faded, which was handy as it gave me the opportunity to see what the shockwave lights were like

The next plane is "Ann-K" a very nice repaint by Jankees :thum:

These shots were made over the Scottish Highlands, as I wanted to try some of that low level stuff in the P47 and this seemed like just the place for it.

Come on Brian! I know your down there somewhere?

Last shot, is just to show you what a fabulous job A2A have down with the gauges in this plane, think that they are the best I have seen so far in any flight sim smile.gif

Thats the end of my stuff, now have a look at this video that I found at the FTX-orbx site, it's Brilliant IMO :clapping:

Thanks for looking in...Graham...

If it makes you feel better you can blame me  I blame you for all my purchases anyway

Nice aircraft and nice screenshots, I do love the A2A stuff especially with the Accusim addon they just seem to come to life.

Loved the video also just makes you want to fly :hat:

Thanks for the Replys.

Glad that you all liked the video, I wonder what kit they use to make it look so good?

Agree that the sound is fantastic with Accusim :cloudnine:

I think the engine sounds a bit like two monkeys having a fight in a dustbin with baseball bats, thought I was having engine trouble when I first heard it .

Looks like your getting to be a bit of an Accusim addict m8y  . I can just see you sitting at the clinic and saying, "My Name is Sabre! I haven't bought a new plane for at least 24 hours" :scare:

BTW: Please be warned the Thunderbolt is a big heavy plane that has been simulated very well by A2A, it may be a bit of a shock to the system for a spitfire pilot like you :yikes: but it's one heck of a lot of fun to fly, just have to watch your landing as if you use to much flap and get bellow stall speed! it's very hard to recover from and most times I end up hitting the ground like a sack of spuds :o .

You are probably right, I've got lots of planes where I haven't really managed to clock up any where near enough flying hours. That said I do like what A2A have done with their Accusim products, maybe I'l hold off until later .............................. maybe Saturday

The birthday pressies (read cash) has allowed the pedals to be ordered :winka:

I dedicate my first ever video to Sabre :yesa:

(Just so that you can see what your getting yourself into on Saturday  )

( I also wanted to try out the fraps demo, so don't expect to much from this one! )

To save a load of bother, I started recording at the engine fire up stage ;)

BTW: The scenery was the FTX Tazmania demo at Launeston airport, for some reason I got very poor FPS (only about 14 fps) in the A2A P47! :( .

Have you ever tried your Spitfire here? just thought I would mention that as I know you wanted to get some of the FTX scenery and your system is about the same spec as mine :thum: .

Haven't tried the Spitfire down there yet but I will. However I'm pretty certain FRAPS is the killer here, it kills the FPS, that's why a lot of video makers use FS Recorder then FRAPS the recorded footage, but I still haven't managed to get FS Recorder working correctly.

Try it again mate but without FRAPS and see what happens.

Nice try with the video mate, it was all looking so good as well :stars:

Hey Buddy.

Tried it without fraps running, and I still only got 14fps at Launeston airport, also tried it with the Realair Spit and it was still very low, although once you get away from the airport things do speed up to the normal rate!.

Will have to try cutting down on the autoGen a bit to see if that helps.

It also could have somthing to do with the GEX textures that I installed the other day (GEX does say that it may cause conflicts with some of the FTX North American scenery, not sure how it could effect the Taz scenery though??? ).

I tried the Spitfire at Launeston and was getting around 20 -24 FPS on the ground just before and during take-off, immediately away from the airport it was up into the 40's. The only difference between the set-ups is GEX from what I can recall.

Thanks for that m8y :) .

Looks like Launeston is a bit of a frame killer then! :( .

Also looks like your Graphics card is a lot more powerfull than mine, will have to update it some day but have a few other things to get first ;)

  • 2 weeks later...

Well now that Sabre has got his own A2A P47, I guess I should show him these training videos from 1943.

They say you can fly A2A planes by the book, so here it is! straight from the horses mouth ;) .

Pilot Familiarization

Ground handling, take off, flight and landing

High Altitude Flight and Aerobatics
