M31 0
Any of you guys use their stuff? I love what they do and had VR Insight as part of my Ebay search parameters, about last month I got an alert for their GPS I'd always fancied. I'm a light aircraft GA Flyer and my max bid on Ebay won (yippee) so at almost half price I got myself one of their GPS5 units. Bit of hassle though, this guy never used the provided decals for the buttons ... I contacted him and he apparently lost them? it was not worth raising an Ebay dispute over so i Looked for stencils on the bay. I contacted VR Insight whom are in South Korea who were willing to provide me with new stencils and button removal tool ... but the shipping fee's were silly money ... I was quoted about £50. This is what I came up with, at first I ordered 5mm letters from Ebay but they would not fit the buttons, so ordered 3mm ones and they work ... to make it accurate the background buttons should be black ... but hey ... I got it near half price ... I've since adjusted the non-alignment letters As for the VR Insight GPS 5 unit itself ... it really adds to my GA flight sim experience ... one thing the official VR Insight blurb tell you is that it (and some of their other products) is it will NOT work in in FS9 or FSX full screen ... they do themselves no favours ... I've got my GPS running just fine in FSX full screen. I like what VR Insight do.
mutley 4,498
You made a great job of those buttons, well done!
Tim_A 997
Another option for the lettering is decal paper. You can print on it with an inkjet, just like normal, after which you need to fix it using acrylic lacquer spray (from any craft shop). Then you simply apply the decal the same way as airfix etc kit decals.
M31 0
Cheers Guys. Yep Tim, that was one option I did consider, I'm a member of a scale modelling community and asked them about this too, some of them suggested this idea. I'm happy enough with the GPS now though.
