Andrew Godden 943
It looks like I may have finally found a challenging one. So the next hint: it was an allied aircraft and from what was probably an obscure manufacturer. But it's not the Twin P-40 though Kieran. Cheers Andrew
brett 2,315
How about the Commonwealth Ca-11 Woomera? or the prototype Ca-
Andrew Godden 943
Well, it lasted about 24 hrs. Yes, Brett, it is the multi role CA-11 'Woomer' bomber designed and built by the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation (CAC). Whilst a production order was placed, it never entered production. One interesting design feature was the two remote controlled twin machine gun barbettes mounted at the rear of the engine nacelles. These can be clearly seen in the picture below. brett 2,315
I couldn't figure out what those machine guns were. It took reading the description to figure it out. I must have caught Alan sleeping, he's been on a streak lately. Ok guys, give me a bit and I'll see if I can get ya's a good one.

dodgy-alan 1,587
The earlier ones had inline water cooled engines.
brett 2,315
La-7 it is Alan, well done. You know your aircraft. There was a distinct difference in the engine cowl. The La-5 was a bit fatter and the La-7 was straighter from front to back. Sorry I made you work for it. Over to you........
dodgy-alan 1,587
LOL, thanks Brett, OK try this one, should be easy!
hurricanemk1c 195
Vickers Windsor - another of Barnes Wallis' creations, not bad to fly apparently, just too late to see the war. The wings flexed quite a bit - a bomber 787!
dodgy-alan 1,587
I didn't think that would last long, 11 mins has got to be one of the shortest though! It is indeed the Vickers Windsor, over to you Kieran.. I'd love to have seen this one fly though! the Vickers type C heavy bomber proposal!
hurricanemk1c 195
That Type C looks very nice! Wonder if anyone has made a model of it? Anyways, here is the next one
