dodgy-alan 1,587
Have a go at this one, should be a doddle !
dodgy-alan 1,587
No guesses yet? Look carefully and you can see styling clues from the aircraft from which it was descended. This one was the full scale mock up.
Andrew Godden 943
OK Alan, I'll take the bait and come straight in with the mock-up of the Hawker P.1121. It was developed to meet the Air Ministry's Operational Requirement, OR.339. Work was stopped in 1958, after the infamous 1957 Defence White Paper by the Minister of Defence, Duncan Sandys, which called for manned fighter aircraft to be phased out and replaced with guided missiles. What in hell was he thinking - or maybe taking. Cheers Andrew
dodgy-alan 1,587
Correct Andrew as I expected you would be, it is the ill fated P1121, It was based loosely on the Hunter but had a lot more power among other things, It's layout was years ahead of anything else in it's class and it had people interested all over the world! Then that idiot Sandys stuck his nose in and the rest is history , Arguably the best fighter we never got, the flying attributes of the Hunter with the power of an F-16! I do wish someone would make this for FS !
Andrew Godden 943
Here we go with the next one. I will be specific about designation.just for the extra challenge. Cheers Andrew
dodgy-alan 1,587
Jurom/Soko J-22 Orao.
Andrew Godden 943
Alan, The short answer is, no. Having said that though, I think it's merely academic. The source actually identified it as the IAR-93 "Vultur". So much for the partial reveal. Cheers Andrew
dodgy-alan 1,587
I've got one of those things in my hangar, the configuration is quite rare now, side intakes with a high wing, Not a Jag or a Mitsu F1 that just leaves this one.
dodgy-alan 1,587
IAR-93 was of course the Romanian name for the same aircraft. Hence the JUROM builders name originally used.
dodgy-alan 1,587
Okay, have a shot at this one. Should be easyish.
Andrew Godden 943
Alan, I know it but will wait a few days to give the others a chance to answer. Cheers Andrew

brett 2,314
It kind of fell into my lap but is it the Miles Mercury M28? British made

dodgy-alan 1,587
As you can see this is an FS pic, It's freeware too, delightfull to fly and a great little tourer.
Andrew Godden 943
Yes, the Miles M.28 'Mercury', would be an obvious answer, but too obvious in this instance. There are some subtle differences between the M.28 and what Alan's challenge is. Cheers Andrew
dodgy-alan 1,587
It's a bit of an ugly duckling from some angles, but quite beautiful from others, thats only my view though. I guess the guy that put his signature at the bottom of the blueprints must have liked it anyway. Either way its a cute little bird and great to fly.
Andrew Godden 943
I think you are being too general, Alan. Cheers Andrew
