ddavid 149
Not if you hit the ground half way down, as he did a couple of weeks ago... Mind you, 10 out of 10 for trying, eh?!? Cheers - Dai.

M31 0
Not if you hit the ground half way down, as he did a couple of weeks ago... Mind you, 10 out of 10 for trying, eh?!? Cheers - Dai. Did he kill himself, I hope not. This is not a new sport as we know and I did read of a guy who participated in this sport who died while doing it a while back ... but in a way i admire the freedom they are allowed to do this adrenalin rush type sport, for a young guy it must be the ultimate rush ... it makes bungee jumping look so yesterday, we all think we are invincible when we are young, but when I think back *shudder* to some of my exploits on Motorcycles and what we did on admittedly less busy roads of the time, its amazing I'm still alive. ... did go on to do some track racing at Knockhill in Fife with my mates though, much safer on the track. I always wanted to try hang gliding, looks like I never will be able to try that now ... sometimes when you are young, you just have to do what you need to do, in the words of a Pink Floyd song ... The memories of a man in his old age Are the deeds of a man in his prime. EDIT: Just wiki'd him, He's not dead thankfully but might be starting to think about calming down a bit On 16 January 2012 Jeb suffered multiple leg fractures in an accident while BASE jumping off Table Mountain, Cape Town, South Africa. He appeared to strike with his feet, probably pulling up to make the edge, spinning 30 meters out before deploying his chute. He was airlifted out by the Red Cross Air Mercy Service Augusta 119 Oh yeah, I recognise the location from flight sim ... I've never been there, just goes to show what a good learning tool MS Flight sim is and was and how spoilt we are with todays technology and computing power.
stu7708 244
That's just insane!! Good thing that guy with the ballons managed to duck and cover in time...
M31 0
PS: anyone else recognise this real world scenery from what Flight Sim has shown us?
M31 0
Been looking at this guys antics again, and yes he's a nutter But if he manages to survive in the same way Steve Irwin kept pushing his luck, he'll have great storys and videos to show his grand children. or they will just be told about him. For what its worth, I like him, his zest for life and laugh is infectious
needles 1,013
I'm going to make one of those suits............I've got an old sheet or duvet cover somewhere. Will it work?
M31 0
I'd do the same but I'm afraid I'd end up looking like a right plonker!
britfrog 180
the problem with the suits is the terrible glide ratio currently available you get the impression that you can fly anywhere from the vids but the reality is a glide ratio of 4:1 so you can even fly level for a moment, it is just a case of reducing the vertical dive to something that resembles flight there are some amazing vids available on vimeo of a well know rock in norway and also in the alps which produce spectacular footage , however the lack of climb ability and sometimes the need for a split second decision can catch out the best, as one of the guys who has made some of the most spectacular videos available , found out and payed the ultimate price last year, it took them 2 days with a mountain team and helicopter to find him.
