ShrewsburyFC 215
New Edit: Ive been trying out some more of the landing challenges tonight, some are reasonably easy, others are harder like the Maule LC6 below! Video of the entire wedding yacht mission. Sorry about the poor quality I havent worked out how to turn the quality of the game up yet, enjoy! I have now worked out how to turn the graphics up, the vid below was taken useing the low graphics still... Second vid shows the second main mission which is the stearman intro, enjoy! (I cut out a bit in the middle because its boring to watch) Third vid, this one shows the RV-6A Maule gameplay: P-51D Mustang gameplay:

M31 0
Thanks Sam for this first insight to what Flight is. I'm not shooting the Messanger here in any way, but did the annoying Female in the mission really attempt to play a Ukulele instrument in the Aircraft to try pad things out? Maybe I was hearing things Once again Sam, and thanks very much for the first real look at Flight ... and I'm trying to not be a Flight Sim snob here, and I realise you are on low detail there, but it looks like FSX dumbed down. Cheers mate.

SEATAC 400
Thanks for posting this video Sam. I am definitley not going to get this. Even the voice acting was sooooo much better in FSX. This chick sounds too much like a robot. The game is too arcade like for me. No wonder MIcrosoft calls it Flight and not Flight Similulator. A simulator it is not.

The Ukulele made me laugh, and what made it even funnier was that I got a award just for listening to that!?!
Sabre 28
Thanks for posting Sam. Nice to see it after all the chit chat. Suppose the key thing it highlights for me is it's clealry a game and not a simulation - nothing wrong with being a game - just disappointing it's not a simulation. Then again we knew that anyway. ShrewsburyFC 215
No problemo guys! I thought I would post some vids of it, so that people can see what the actual game consists of... Sam.

brett 2,314
Thanks for posting these Sam. I downloaded Flight but now I am not sure if I am going to install it. The scenery looks nice but was surprised by the cotton ball clouds in the 4th video, they were all lined up in rows. I think Orbx does just as nice of a job with scenery, almost looks like they copied it a bit from them. The mesh and textures were really nice, especially around the shore line. I did go to Hawaii once but it looked alot more like jungle than what is shown here. The voice of the guy in the 3rd vid sounds like the bus driver from the Loppy Larry mission from FSX, doesn't it?. I wouldn't mind getting it for my playstation but would balk at having to buy all the addons for it. I do hope they make money on it though, maybe they will put it toward a new version of a improved flight simulator. Edit I changed my mind, I hope they do not make any money on it. Then they will come crawling back to us dedicated flight simmers.
ShrewsburyFC 215
No Problemo Brett Luckily I was a beta tester for the product so I get all the DLC for free! I would reccomend the following DLC to people if they were going to pay for it: The Hawaii adventure pack which includes the RV-6A aircraft, and the Maule aircraft pack, (although it lacks paint schemes, only two). I would not recommend the Mustang pack though, this is because they have only included half of the aircraft! (no cockpit), and also there are no missions, challenges, jobs, which are associated with this aircraft, it only has 2 paint schemes as well which is pretty poor, considering the price... Hope this helps, Sam.
brett 2,314
Thanks Sam, I think my problem is that I need to look at this for what it is, a flight game. If I remember back to when I was more envolved with the gaming consoles I would be a bit more thrilled with this release. It did look pretty cool in that aspect. Unfortuneitly the console is just gathering dust in my closet since I started with FSX. I think I'm hooked on playing around in it's files to much. Well, enjoy and keep recording those videos, they are fun to watch.
allardjd 1,853
Quote I do hope they make money on it though, maybe they will put it toward a new version of a improved flight simulator. Edit I changed my mind, I hope they do not make any money on it. Then they will come crawling back to us dedicated flight simmers. I wouldn't worry either way. MS will survive whether MSF is a success or augers in and burns. Nor do I think they will crawl anywhere. I remain cautiously hopeful that they might someday have a change of heart and publish a new verison of FS. No one else is in a better position to do that and MSF does not preclude that. However, they've become painfully aware that they aren't making a dime on all the freeware and payware add-ons for FS9 and FSX and they realize that they've really missed the boat on all that. We all spent maybe $40 at MS for the sim itself and probably spent many times that with other vendors for add-ons. It's difficult to imagine why MS didn't smell the coffee sooner, but they have now. If and when they do FSXI you can expect it to locked up somehow. FS9 and FSX are pretty open. Though there are parts of them that have not been documented or published or hacked, vast areas of the sims are able to be modified or latched onto for use by add-ons. They gave the SDKs away free to anyone who cared to download them and never raised any legal or ethical objections to the concept or specifics of add-ons. I wouldn't expect things to be quite so free and open in the next version. I predict that if they ever do produce FSXI they will assure that the aftermarket is going to be a source of revenue for MS too - somehow. It may not look exactly like they are trying to do with MSF, but I can't imagine them not trying to tap into the add-on revenue stream of any new simulator they may choose to publish. We all know and understand very well that the ability of FS9 and FSX to be modified and added to, and the eagerness of freeware and payware developers to take advantage of it has been a boon to us and to that entire genre of software. Our collective eagerness to see the next version and our nearly universal disappontment at what they delivered give testament to that. Microsoft benefited from that flexibility and openness too, but from the perspective of the mega-corporation, those things are intangibles at best and aren't nearly as likely to drive their decision-making process as the prospect of sales revenue. It's not that they don't value reputation and credibility at all, it's just that they value the bottom line more. There's nothing inherently wrong with them acting that way. Reputation and credibility don't pay the bills or the salaries or the shareholder dividends, at least not in the short term. They have a legal and ethical responsibility to pay those things and, misguided or not, MSF is an attempt to generate a lucrative and on-going revenue stream. It may turn out that it will be, but I'm voting with my wallet by keeping it closed and none of the MSF revenue will come from me. John

ddavid 149
... Luckily I was a beta tester for the product so I get all the DLC for free! ... Sam. Great work, Sam - BTW, did you get the DLC whilst a beta tester, or subsequent to downloading the RC. I'm afraid I've been too busy to get the RC - maybe I should? Cheers - Dai. ShrewsburyFC 215
@Dai - I was sent tokens to use when the RC was released! I would recommend you switch to the RC, as they will most likely be adding updates as they go. (I am assuming RC means retail copy?! ) Sam.
