Menno on the move. :) Way to take care of business. :thum: Nice choice of aircraft too.

Hmmm, one thing never changes in AH exploits. The owner's always seems to fly the new birds...... :D

Flying high

A bit late, but I promised you a report from the first flight with the 1900C. I already flew it last week but didn't get around to it yet. We have been very busy :)

Flew some freight from Lanai to Kona at Keahole on the big island and back.

Leaving Lanai looking north towards Molokai and Maui. Lanai is in the bottom left of the photo.

On the tarmac at Kona at Keahole. One of my 208 pilots saw me landing and snapped this photo when I was powering down.

Late afternoon on the way back towards Lanai.

I have flown a couple of more flights since and I really like the 1900C. It has an insane rate of climb. I can do about 2300 fpm when almost empty and that drops to about 1300 when flying at MTOW.

It does need a fair amount of runway when taking off. About 3500 feet at MTOW. I found that out the hard way while leaving Bradshaw AFB :P It is located at about 8000 feet ASL and has a runway that is just barely enough for the 1900.

You know when you are pushing your luck when you see palm trees 20 meters outside your left cockpit window when taking off.

Back to work! :)

With that ride, flights in and out of PHHN ought to have you biting your nails at MTOW !!!!!!

I'd come in just trying to miss the beach and stand on the brakes after an OK touchdown. Taking off with the mountain behind me was like going off an aircraft carrier. I actually had to drop the autogen to get rid of the tall coconut trees someone planted at the end of the runway along the ocean side after smaking the gear twice.

Sounds like fun !!!!!!

I find using the LumberJack addon works well in FSX to get rid of those pesky close in trees and makes things a bit more realistic. Doesn't always work with addon scenery's though.

I use a lot of scenery and airport addons who fortunately remove most of those threes at around the runways. But still the 1900 at MTOW struggles to cope with anything under 3500 ft at sea level. Not to mention those at significant heights.

The most I got into the 1900 was just under 8000 lbs from Lanai to Dillingham. Someone with a calculator will figure out quickly enough that this didn't leave me with a lot of room for fuel... :P

I haven't taken the 1900 to Hana just yet. I mostly do shuttles from Lanai towards Hilo and Kona in the east and Dillingham and Lihue in the west.

I am thinking of shifting myself towards an ATR 72-212A (ATR 72-500). I already own a ATR 42-500 which is operated by an AI pilot. Since I began Air Hauler I have been trying to find the perfect airplane and stick with that so I can learn to fly it with all the correct procedures.

I think I have found that in the ATR.

I'll keep you updated :)
