JF_Rich 1
As you may or may not know, this Saturday brings us another FS event worthy of casting off the shackles of visits to the in-laws or mowing the grass. I have it on good authority that the purebred canine Mutley himself will be there along with a host of exhibitors including: Microsoft First Class Simulations EA Rail Simulator Aerosoft Flight 1 Software Saitek Horizon Simulations EuropeanBahn PC Pilot Magazine Flight Illusion PC Pilots Club of Ireland Alpine Systems Micro Aviator RC Simulations And of course, Just Flight. Yep, I'll be there along with the biggest cheese of cheeses Alex plus the slightly less important but no less cheesy Simon and Scott to answer any FS questions you may have and to let you have a tinker with any upcoming Just Flight release you may fancy including R44, 757, Mosquito, P38, FSX Vulcan and a few more surprises to boot. Tickets and info can be found here - http://213.171.206.239/who.htm Hope to see as many of you as possible there. Note: If you are there then please do come up and say hello - you wouldn't believe how many people have said that they have wandered around the JF stand at shows but didn't say hello. We don't bite and we really aren't that special so don't be shy! In fact, myself and Simon have an evening to kill in a boring Travel Lodge on Friday in the centre of Brum so if anyone fancies taking us on a tour of the local strip houses or a even just a quiet drink somewhere then please feel free to let us know. Hope to see you there. That includes you MartinW - we will probably be within 20 miles of your humble abode, hope to see you at some point over the weekend!
mutley 4,495
Was that a personal invitation? I will have to set up a stand  I do hope to be going although family commitments are looking to take over :sadblinky: Cheers
MartinW 0
I didn't even know it was on till I noticed it on the JF site this morning. Anyway, I suspect I will be there... but at the cat show that’s on at the same time. I think my wife has us zeroed in on that. At least that was her intention a couple of weeks ago. I wonder if she will let me go to both. If she won't let me away from her side, in fear of the weirdo’s that frequent the flight sim shows, then I'll peer through the barrier and pull faces at you. It might sound boring, but I liked the cat show last year. Trouble is, you can’t do an ILS approach with a cat can you, or program it’s FMC? I suppose you could make one takeoff. That includes you MartinW - we will probably be within 20 miles of your humble abode, hope to see you at some point over the weekend! A lot less than 20 miles! Fear not, you will meet me one day... and then regret it for the rest of your life. :doh
JF_Rich 1
in fear of the weirdo’s that frequent the flight sim shows Don't worry. His says he has family commitments

mutley 4,495
That's it I'm definitely not going now.. although the promise of ruining UM's day does sound appealing! I had a look at the train times this morning. 3 hours not including a 20 minute car journey to Winchester Train station. This epic journey then carries on with a bus from Winchester to Reading as the trains are not running due to maintenance  Then a train from reading to New Street, Followed by a 20 minute walk and possibility of mugging or being mobbed by my fans Or I could drive 135 miles, approx 2 hours 45 minutes, sneak in the back door. Decisions Decisions
MartinW 0
possibility of mugging or being mobbed by my fans Then spare a thought for poor old Richard, having to spend a night in the centre of Birmingham. Hope he has his bulletproof vest, and the new high velocity MP7 for self-defence. Doesn't matter if he hasn't though he could always buy one from someone on the street. Just kidding, the centre isn't too bad Should have got a posh B&B in Solihull though, my daughters friend owns a very nice one. P.S. The only fans Mut face has are the ones that like to cling to his leg.
hello_basil 0
in fear of the weirdo’s that frequent the flight sim shows The above quote has made my day! Although I'm no where near Birmingham I shall be attending an aviation-focused event; the Oxford Aviation Open Day & Seminar for Prospective Students! Isn't that a mouthful 'n' a half! allardjd 1,853
the new high velocity MP7... ...he could always buy one from someone on the street. What? No gun control? Shocking! John
mutley 4,495
Don't worry John, Martin will have his trusty water pistol
MartinW 0
What? No gun control? Shocking! They seem to get them from somewhere John. Not an MP7 of course or even an MP5, but certainly a pistol or two. Not that common but it does happen. Don't worry John; Martin will have his trusty water pistol I'll douse em to death. ddavid 149
Can't be in two places at once - Saturday is farmers' market day in Fishguard, plus the fact that I don't get two weekends off in a row, worse luck...... :sadblinky: Soooo - have a good time, lads, and bl**dy well behave yourselves etc, etc!! BTW, I'll try to post some pics I took at Tangmere Military Aviation Museum which was the highlight of last weekends jaunt to Mutley country. Cheers - Dai.
mutley 4,495
which was the highlight of last weekends jaunt to Mutley country Well we nearly met! It was nice talking to you on the phone. This could be an ideal opportunity to see if we can arrange a Mutley's Hangar "eyeball" next year. Maybe at some FS exhibition or airshow? Fairford or Shoreham would be good! Or we could charter an aircraft and visit our American friends! Cheers
mutley 4,495
Car is fuelled, maps are drawn and Uncle Martin has been consulted for the best route. We are ready to go See you there Martin  Cheers
JF_Rich 1
We are already there and ready to roll... Hope to see you tomorrow!
MartinW 0
Poor Mutley, it's so sad. He could have taken the easy route, parked on my drive, and then we could have nipped down to the railway station by me [5mins walk] then taken the train to Moor street station and then just a ten minute walk to Millennium Point. He could have met the famous Scratchy, shook hands with Daniel, arm wrestled Katy and admired the lovely lake/big pond by my house. Unfortunately I will be at the NEC admiring all manner of fancy pussies with my delightful wife. And I have checked you definitely can't shoot an ILS with a cat, or program it's FMC. You can use their tails as a joystick though I'd imagine. No idea where the USB goes. Definitely the above scenario for the future though Mut, next time the pussies can do without me. Genuinely sorry I can't make it.
mutley 4,495
Still time UM, still time, don't forget I know where you live! Cheers
MartinW 0
What would Scratchy think if a dog materialised, all unexpected like that? It would be claws at dawn. P.S. Did you get my additional and characteristically humorous extra route info.
mutley 4,495
Blimey Rich that looks like Scott I thought he was there just for window dressing, I didn't realise he actually did some work :rofl BTW I hope my latest video will be staring on that wide screen  You made a good job with the blue paint on the stands as well. How much paint is left on the tarmac in the car park at JF Towers?! Cheers
mutley 4,495
I did UM, I may pop into ASDA for some essentials on the way! Cheers
mutley 4,495
Well I didn't see ASDA after all that. It was a great show, very busy, had a good chat with the JF lads and Scotty even bought me a coffee :???: Well worth the 270 mile round trip! JF even sold a Mutley's Hanger Track IR :-)
MartinW 0
Asda is tucked away a bit, as you go onto the small heath bypass. You could have decked yourself out in 'Cloths by George'. :???: How was the traffic in Birmingham, it's usually a bit of an experience? Mind you, I did alert the police and MI5 that you were arriving; they probably cordoned of the streets and provided an escort. The SAS were probably on the rooftops with their sniper rifles and the special suitcase that follows you around wherever you go would have been close by. mutley 4,495
Hi Mart, it was really good, no different than anywhere else really. I didn't realise I was on a bypass as it was dual carriageway most of the way in, I haven't seen so many Gatso and traffic light cameras along one road in ages :???: I was lucky to find it straight away, Millennium Point in on the large brown tourism road signs from quite a way back down the A45 and more specifically to the "Flight and rail sim show" quite easy to get to, just off the ring road! Hopefully the organisers will see it as a success and have another one next year, it was very busy all day and it was interesting to see the train sim stuff too. Cheers
