The red barron 41
Hi guys + girls, Thought I would post this to see what others had done over the weekend to celebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee. There was a party in our local country park which we were unable to attend to for various reasons, but last night me and my dad did fireworks for a village down near Essex and lit their beacon for them. Don't panic we both had full fireproof kit and relevant safety exclusion zones, as my dad does pyrotechnics professionally as a hobby. So what did you do? feel free to post below. rob16584 42
Got dragged off to a street party on sunday (which was held indoors) and relaxed the rest of the time. Been nice to have a break from work as it's been a bit hectic the last few weeks
jaydor 345
Same dreary weekend for me, got outa bed, went down Tescos, done the lottery, won £200,000,000, bought a private jet, went around the world, read the ongoings at Mutley's, went back to bed..

mutley 4,498
Saturday = Unwell moping around the house and garden and never went near a PC! Sunday = Spent most of Sunday in Bournemouth at my Mum's. Monday = Re-built PC, installed new HD chucked old SSD in the drawer. Tuesday = Re-installed FSX and some scenery and it's super fast now, I wonder how long that will last for. So what's this jubilee thing all about?

dodgy-alan 1,587
Well since it rained most of the time I didnt go far in the real world. In the virtual world I flew aBOAC Canadair Argonaut back to London from Nairobi. Took a long while and several refuelling stops, Djibouti, Cairo,Tripoli, Gibraltar, London. Thankfully the Autopilot works well so on most of the legs I was able to get on with other things.(Like building a model of a Ferrari 599).Also watched the jubilee celebrations on TV and bought a couple of CDs from Play.com. Thought the flypast was a bit feeble and predictable, No typhoon, Tornado, Hercules, Sentinal or even the new Voyager ! The Red Arrows are good but everyones seen them, and lets be honest, they'll turn up for the opening of an envelope these days! Last nights concert was good but Paul McCartney cannot sing live any more, Cliff Richard can just about do it still, Grace Jones just looked a mess. Kylie was brilliant as usual and Sir Tom Jones just blew the house down. Oh and not forgetting watching the Nuthatches fledge on Springwatch!! (Still prefer Kate Humble to Micheala Strachan any day! )
Sabre 28
Saturday - continued the seemingly never ending saga of re-installing FSX scenery Sunday morning - realised that re-installing secenery does come to an end after all Sunday afternoon (into Monday morning) - Jubilee party with Royal masks adourning several different drunken heads - highlight of the evening seeing the "Queen" flick the V's on the front lawn Monday morning - was there one? Monday afternoon - all is well with the world as the virtual skies are once again open for business Tuesday - take advantage of the extra day off to take in the rather bracing weather along the north east coast - very refreshing though And to cap it all I have the rest of the week off - yippee All in all not a bad weekend - many thanks to HRH
SEATAC 400
Searched for a new job.
Tim_A 997
Saturday: Pulling ailerons off spitfire, to be de-riveted since the previous attempt at riveting had produced a warped trailing edge Sunday: Street party, various watchings of jubilee barges. Snow White & the Huntsman at the flicks Monday: Shopping. Bit of research, Prometheus at the flicks with some mates, Jubilee concert on the telly Tuesday: Walked into town & back (didn't get coffee as nowhere open). Watched flypast on TV, Added 1000 words to novel, wrote this.

May I introduce you to our friendly donate button? 100% satisfaction guaranteed! Actually, I did watch some some of the pageant on the Thames on Sunday, The concert on Monday and the flypast on Tuesday. We had a great weekend all round except for me sleeping for about 20 hours on Sat/Sun as I had some weird headache and dizzy thing going on but not until after I had installed a new TV in the kitchen for SWMBO! Also, managed to zap many mossies with the electric racquet
Tim_A 997
Did you zap yourself? Maybe that's where the headache came from...
ddavid 149
Most of last week, and the weekend, we've been insulating the cottage wall with hempcrete: And, to relax, I flew to Montgomery Castle: ... after installing FSInn - which worked! I don't think we've had too many street parties in mid Wales - the weather, you know. Cheers - Dai.
mutley 4,498
That sounds very eco-friendly Dai

The red barron 41
Seems Like we all had a busy weekend then! Like most of you I spent most of the weekend on FSX and watched it on the tv.
rob16584 42
How often do you fly online Dai? We could try and get a group flight together on VATSIM one day
ddavid 149
Well, I've only just discovered the joys of FSInn - courtesy of HoverControl, but I wouldn't mind a spin around the Derbyshire Dales or further north... As for VATSIM, I'm going to need a helping hand there, I think! BTW, how are you getting on with rotorcraft? Cracked up it yet?!? I'm hoping to get a nice bit of Komodo equipment soon - I think I'm down to review their cyclic+collective... Cheers - Dai.
hurricanemk1c 195
I accidently installed a Dragonfly with some aircraft carriers, and subsequently crashed it whilst landing 'on deck' of HMS Victorious 1944
mutley 4,498
That Komodo cyclic+collective is a lovely piece of kit Dai, so well engineered. After my disastrous "flight" at the show I am going to pay more attention from now on! I'm thinking of getting the DodoSim 206, is that the most realistic?
Tim_A 997
As for VATSIM, I'm going to need a helping hand there, I think! http://www.cixvfrclub.org.uk/ And Plan-G 3 of course
