allardjd 1,853
Two plane hijackers 'beaten to death by passengers' in China http://www.news.com.au/travel/news/two-plane-hijackers-beaten-to-death-by-passengers-in-china/story-e6frfq80-1226415821620 The Global Times newspaper reported that two of the suspects died in hospital from injuries they suffered during the ensuing fight with passengers and crew on board." "...the men, all aged between 20 and 36, stood up and announced their plans to terrified passengers." "The gang reportedly broke a pair of aluminium crutches and used them to attack passengers while attempting to break into the cockpit..." "The men were reported to be Uighurs, the local Muslim ethnic minority." This part is interesting... "...spokesman for the German-based World Uyghur Congress which campaigns for Uighurs’ rights, said that it wasn’t a hijacking attempt, rather an in-flight brawl over a seat dispute." Yep, I'm sure that's what it was, just two guys who mixed up their seat numbers. If you believe that I can make you a very good price for the Tower Bridge. John
mutley 4,498
Well done to the passengers and crew, as for trying to break in to the cockpit with broken crutches, that just sounds like a comedy sketch.
brett 2,316
Bummer.....now they will probably start taking peoples crutches away when they fly.
allardjd 1,853
Those guys would have been OK until the emergency room people tried to remove the pieces of aluminum crutch from where the other pax had inserted them. The airlines ought to give every one of those pax a free lifetime ticket. Come to think of it, that might be a good airline policy world wide - prevent a hijacking, get a lifetime free pass. Think of the deterrent effect. Of course then people would be staging phoney ones - nahh - bad idea after all. John

allardjd 1,853
My guess is that the four hijackers who survived are going to have a tougher time of it than the other two. Being on the wrong side of the Chinese authorities is probably not going to result in a fun time. John
brett 2,316
Doesn't sound to bad, not to good either. As the saying goes "don't do the crime if you can't do the time". AN OVERVIEW OF CHINESE PRISON CONDITIONS
