dodgy-alan 1,587
Avro Vulcan XH558 as she appeared in the 1960s when flying with 230 OCU. She remains the only flying example of this magnificent aircraft....at least until the end of the 2013 season. Last minute checks Hear the howl! 558 opens the taps! lift off saying goodbye from the tower Pulling up for the famous Vulcan climbout Turning and climbing approaching her cruising height of 50,000, (the highest a Vulcan ever reached was 64,000!) settling into a cruise Posing for the camera ship! beggining her descent to the Welsh coast approaching the drop zone dropping down for a dummy attack on Llanbedr returning to her cruise In her element gear down as she turns onto finals for Waddington nose high and bleeding off speed as she approaches the runway. we need to get below 175kts. over the threshold rolling out, most pilots tried to avoid using the chute, but we were a bit fast. turning off of the runway parked on the ramp thanks for viewing, dedicated to all the crews of RAF Bomber Command who flew this great aircraft. mutley 4,498
Hi Alan, A superb tribute, loved every shot, I was hoping to see the speed brakes deployed just before you dropped like a stone to bomb Llanbedr (Good choice by the way!) Got to see them at the end with the chute. Here's the video I did for Just Flight just after FSX was released!
ddavid 149
Nice set, Alan - Thanks for sharing. It's good to see the Old Lady in her finery! BTW, does the chute really slow the aircraft - like the speed brakes? @ Joe - what have you got against Llanbedr, then, eh?!? Cheers - Dai.
jaydor 345
I believe she flew overhead of my home last Saturday. I was sat indoors and heard a low flying aircraft and though that's low. My nephew asked me the following day had I seen the Vulcan flying up the Valley. She had been in Cardiff and was returning to Gloucester I believe? Great shots there Alan, thanks for the views. (At least I can say I have seen her now)

dodgy-alan 1,587
Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback, This model really is a Deusy, If you really want to get to grips with the Vulcan I reccomend you read this book. It gives you a real in the cockpit look of the flying paremeters and what could and couldn't be done. It also gives a detailed account of the history of the aircraft and the various different marks. A really good read and a useful aid to flying this aircraft. http://www.amazon.com/VULCAN-TEST-PILOT-Experiences-Cockpit/dp/1906502307
