Vautour, France's MRCA from the 1950s

Recommended Posts

The Sud Ouest Vautour first flew in 1952. It served in Boththe Armee-de-l'aire and the Israeli Air Force. It was designed from the outset to handle, all weather interception, night fighter, Light strike and bombing roles. It met all it's design requirements and then some. Top speed was over 600mph and the service ceiling was 50.000 ft. range was around 3,500 miles. It was powered by 2 SNECMA ATAR 101E-3 Turbojets. As well as service use the aircraft was used as a test bed for various engine and systems tests. The last Vautours were retired in 1979.

These are freeware models, one from Kazonori Ito and the other from Avsim. enjoy....

I really liked the model you found on avsim, and flew it alot in FS9. If I recall correctly, the cockpit was not very good, but the external model looked real good.

Your shots made rummage through some old screenshots to see if I had anything left with the Vautour, I found only one, but a nice one I thought:

Nice shot Jankees, you're right about the cockpit detail, I couldn't get the gauges to work on the avsim one so swapped the panel for the Kazonori Ito one and that worked perfectly. The only version that needs a different panel again is the Experimental CEV one that used the panel (and radar) from the Mirage 2000.
