remingtonbox 18
I am not asking necessarily for comments, I am just putting this here so I can find it later. I have a feeling this system will run FSX with all sliders set to max, 100% traffic, REX and whatever else I can throw at it no problem SeaSonic M12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium ASRock 970 EXTREME3 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard Patriot Viper 3 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 Desktop Memory AMD FX-4170 Zambezi 4.2GHz (4.3GHz Turbo)Socket Seagate Barracuda STBD3000100 3TB 7200 RPM 64MB Mushkin Enhanced Chronos Deluxe MKNSSDCR60GB-DX 2.5" 60GB (SSD) Seagate Barracuda ST500DM002 500GB 7200 RPM 3.5" Internal Hard Drive XFX Double D FX-787A-CDFC Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB Video Card Koutech IO-RCM630 Multi-in-1 USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Front Panel Internal Card Reader TP-LINK TL-WN951N Wireless N300 Advanced PCI Adapter
mutley 4,498
Good spec Remington, you are looking at AMD rather then Intel? Checkout comments on the web about FSX preferring Intel Cheers, Joe
GHAO 0
Apart from an AMD (but I've got one and my 1090T is surprisingly good), there's not much else I see wrong, but don't quote me on that!
remingtonbox 18
Price! I can get the AMD processer for about 25% what an i7 would cost in the same specs
britfrog 180
Prior to fsx i was an and man but I have to agree with Joe the amd runs considerably slower than an intel also It is well known as well that fsx was designed around the nvidia cards and these run much better on fsx than the amd cards Hey but you pays your money and you takes your choice ! remingtonbox 18
here is a comparable i7 processor to the AMD one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116491 Why is Intel so much more expensive?
britfrog 180
here is a comparable i7 processor to the AMD one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116491 Why is Intel so much more expensive? because amd's cheaper price allows them to compete and take sales from intel without offering the same performance. 10 years ago amd's out performed intel however ever since core 2 duo and I7 it has been a case of catch up there is no real problem with AMD they work well they are just a millionth of an eye blink slower than Intel i do wonder if one would really see any difference in fsx between 2 similarly equipped p.c's with only different cpu's
remingtonbox 18
I am thinking the same thing... is just a smidgeon better performance worth $500 extra?
