I use a lot of scenery and airport addons who fortunately remove most of those threes at around the runways. But still the 1900 at MTOW struggles to cope with anything under 3500 ft at sea level. Not to mention those at significant heights. The most I got into the 1900 was just under 8000 lbs from Lanai to Dillingham. Someone with a calculator will figure out quickly enough that this didn't leave me with a lot of room for fuel... I haven't taken the 1900 to Hana just yet. I mostly do shuttles from Lanai towards Hilo and Kona in the east and Dillingham and Lihue in the west. I am thin

Hi Daniel, Welcome! Looks like you made a great start up north For painting I suggest you find blank paint kits for your planes to start with if you haven't done that already. You should also get the program DXTBmp to convert for example Photoshop files to BMP or DXT files FSX can read. There are several repainting tutorials on YouTube or elsewhere on the interwebs. As for the painting part itself. Be creative, but don't make it too complex. Believe me, I think I put more time into painting my airplanes than actually flying them If you need any advise or have specific questions

7 June 2013 Flying high A bit late, but I promised you a report from the first flight with the 1900C. I already flew it last week but didn't get around to it yet. We have been very busy Flew some freight from Lanai to Kona at Keahole on the big island and back. Leaving Lanai looking north towards Molokai and Maui. Lanai is in the bottom left of the photo. On the tarmac at Kona at Keahole. One of my 208 pilots saw me landing and snapped this photo when I was powering down. Late afternoon on the way back towards Lanai. I have flown a couple of more flights since a

27 May 2013 Trading up Hi everybody. Just wanted to let you know we have settled in at our new home Lanai Airport. The first flights have been carried out successfully and we are getting used to the new digs I told you last time I had some good news. Well there is some bad news first... well not really bad, but sad... For some time I have been thinking about making changes to the airplane roster and in the last few day that finally happened. I decided to get rid of the three smaller Cessna's; the 172, 206 and 210. They have served us well, but it is just not very efficient anymore t

Hi Bobby, For Lanai and Lanai Airport I use photo photorealistic scenery v0.9 from AveMetal666. If you Google it you will find some direct download links and torrents. Its freeware. For the airport itself I use a combination. I redid the runway and apron myself because the FSX version is rubbish. Unfortunately I am not experienced enough to do the surrounding scenery. However I recently found a French guy who did Lanai Airport for FSX. http://manucali55.wix.com/fazaz#!lanai-project/cvu5 His buildings and scenery is spot on, but the apron is not really accurate. So I combined the two. I

24 may 2013 Welcome to Lanai! Well, I am hardly back and I have some big news. We are moving......today!! As most of you now, the problems we have been having with limited aircraft parking and storage at Dillingham have been ongoing for almost a year now. So a couple of months ago I started scouting the islands for a suitable new base to expand and possibly relocate our headquarters to. And some time ago I found it! Lanai Airport! It is perfect in every way. It is located exactly in the center of the Hawaiian islands, it has a 5000 ft runway with ILS and lights for extended opera

21 may 2013 Greetings from sunny Hawaii It has been a long while since I posted an update. Some of you might have feared the worst but no worries, we are still alive and kicking!! Winter season was killer, but we survived once more. It seems there are finally signs that the economy is recovering and with the busy tourist season approaching things are looking up again! First of all some updates for the people who have followed this thread all the way. For the rest of you, you can read from beneath the dotted line Many thing have happened since last year. We went from 500 comple

Hi John, Thanks for the kind words. Much appreciated As far as I now, I am running the latest version of Air Hauler already for some time. I am at 1.54 (SP 4.1) at the moment. And backup I do. I am quite paranoid about my computer screwing me over. (A wise man called Steve Wozniak once said: "Never trust a computer you can't throw out a window". I tend to agree, leaving the window part out). So I like to make a backup every week or so

15 october 2012 Its alive, ALIVE, mwoehoehahahaha! First of all, my apologies for the long delay in the updates... It has been a though couple of months for us here in Hawaii. The usually good business in the summer months really suffered from the bad economy. I have to admit that we nearly went broke, but we survived through the sacrifices we all made. Some of our staff have been on long term leave during the summer and by tapping in to our reserves we made it......just... Everybody has agreed to come back however, and because the economy is slowly picking up again we have started to get

Well everybody makes mistakes, that's what second chances are for Third chances however...... no way Nice aircraft the HS 748. Probably cheap to buy. In the same class you could also look at the ATR 72-500, but that would probably be much more expensive. Worth looking at anyway I think Keep up the good work

26 june 2012 Acting on some good advice! It has been another mad week here at Air Cargo Hawaii. Being away from the office meant I had some catching up to do, so a status update had to wait a bit. First off, some short company news: - As you know the second Cessna 208B has been delivered. It has been put to immediate good use, because the first Super Cargomaster is now being upgraded to be able to carry ATA containers/pallets. Hopefully it will be ready at the end of the week. - I hired yet another pilot to cope with increasing demand and flight hours. William Perkins has joined us on a f

You should hang a sign saying: "No trespassing, violators will be shot, survivors will be shot again!" I have one hanging over my desk at home

I think you have to commission George Lucas at Industrial Light & Magic for an airplane with those specs

20 June 2012 Back in Hawaii I am finally back in Hawaii after an exhausting weekend up north visiting both Milwaukee and attending an epic party Still suffering a bit from a hangover but I am (hopefully) able to explain my visit a bit. It all started after a talk I had with both consultant John and mechanic Dave about the future of Air Cargo Hawaii. We came to the conclusion that the only way to grow is to add bigger airplanes to the fleet in order to be able to afford more and better hubs at different airports around the islands of Hawaii. More hubs means more work (again, hopefully) and

This is probably because you haven't imported the new scenery in Air Hauler yet! You can do this by going to 'options' in Air Hauler and pressing 'Import Scenery'. It will take several minutes but after that Air Hauler should recognize all your airports (and heliports if available) Good luck!

Don't worry about that one, I think I have enough of that for all of us..... Think I am going to start my recovery on the long journey back down south. No in flight movies and peanuts for me this time

About time! Enjoy your holiday

Scenery looks great! I had a similar problem back in the beginning of Air Cargo Hawaii with the 172S. It is very under powered. Luckily Hawaii doesn't have many high altitude runways, but I can certainly imagine your problems, especially fully loaded. Good luck on earning your way towards the 182. It will take some time, but when you can finally buy it, the feeling will be great! Maybe you should keep an eye on second hand airplanes. You might get lucky

.30-06 should do the trick. Just fire a warning shot in the air. Remember, MAD's henchmen certain not to be named individuals are more afraid of you as you are of them Good job on selecting Alaska for your company. Should be interesting -------- Off topic: Are you using any real world weather apps? REX, Active Sky? If so, remember to check te weather before flying. You could wind up in a lot of trouble over there -------- Keep up the good work!

You're very welcome! I am innocent

15 jun 2012 Old and new Just got send a picture by Michael from Hawaii. Seeing as I am currently in Milwaukee, I couldn't be at the arrival of the brand new 208B which was apparently delivered way ahead of schedule The new Super Cargomaster is the second airplane from the front. It has been given the name: " Spirit of Kaua'i " and registration number N32514. Now you can also see the old and new paint jobs right next to each other. The 206G is in the front, then the new 208B, the 172S and in the background the other 208B " Spirit of O'ahu " Just wanted to share this with you Back to b

Hi and welcome from a fellow Dutchman Are you going to keep us updated on your company? Would be nice to have one more pilot/owner on this forum You can see your fellow pilots by going to 'Options' in Air Hauler and then 'AH Radar' Good luck on starting your company. The beginning is always the hardest, but once you get to know your airplane thing will go smoothly and you can even enjoy the scenery from time to time

I'll be there this time for sure! I am (kind of) in the neighborhood anyway I will lock away the booze behind a double wall in the airplane so the coppers can't find it (and I can't drink it on the way ) And don't worry about the shrimp. I had so much yesterday, that I can't be around it for quite some time without barfing...
