You can find the B-model here, I've done about 25 paints for it so far, which are all available on OZx I have tried the Flight1 P-51D, but deleted it, I did not like it at all. Wrong nose, wrong tail, ugly textures. A nightmare to paint too. I am not aware of any repaints for it, and there is a reason for that. The warbirdsim P-51B is much much better, especially since they've overcome some initial problems and cut the price by a substantial amount. It is also a dream to paint, with a fantastic paintkit. Mind you, that is just my opinion, other people may think completely differently. War
  2. Bare metal? Usually I use the paintkit supplied (like for the P-38 above), or I use the original textures and adopt them if there is no paintkit (like the B-25 above). I have created a few bare metal skins myself, usually, you paint the main texture grey, and play around with the alpha channel (which gives it the shine) until you have something you like. If you like (in FSX), you can also play around with the spec files, which dictate the reflected colors and the intensity of the reflections. A good trick is to take a bare metal paint you like, and use the grey/alpha settings from that when

Jankees, or truth be told Jan Kees, is actually my first name ( I blame my parents), so that's what I prefer. As for the P-51, the one in this thread is the P-51B by Warbirdsim. That paint is one of the paints that is still in the paintshop, but it is nearly done.

Thank you Joe! Yes, nearly all of them are available, but they are spread all over the internet. You'll find nearly all of them on either avsim (look for "Jan Kees"), sim-outhouse (look for "jankees" as author) and OZx (look under downloads). @Dai: I use photoshop to paint, my screenshots come straight out of FSX, just some cropping
  5. Hi Guys! I'm new on Mutley's, but when I saw you had a repaint forum as well, I just had to join. I've been painting for a few years now, mainly warbirds, and thought I'd see if I could help. So if anybody has any questions about repainting, feel free to ask. You can see a few examples of my paints in the screenshot section, but here's a few more: my main interests are warbirds, but I've done a few GA and tubeliner paints as well. For me it starts with a good model, and the paint then just applies itself. I've never done any fictional paints, for some reason they do not interest
  6. The weather is HOT and WET, that's OK if you're with a woman, but no good if you're in the jungle! Very nice and moody shots, with #2 and 3 being my favorites. They would be better yet if you get rid of the jaggies. Best method is to turn your anti-aliasing off in FSX, and set them to max on your graphics card. You'll love the difference!
  7. that is one shiny bird! I love the ground textures too, very realistic!

Thank you! I've been painting aircraft for a few years now, mainly WW2 aircraft, but recently I diversified to tubes as well. Another few examples: and warbirds posing as passenger aircraft:
  11. A very nice shot indeed! I've always loved the sleek lines of the Concorde, but boy, was it noisy!

Hi Guys, I'm new here, but a FS forum with screenshots pages, and a repainters section, how can I resist? That's what I do, I paint and I take screenshots, so I hope I'll fit in. Here's a few examples:
