  1. John, In that case you might like to peruse my website...it is about my first five years in the R.A.F. with my time on Venoms with 266 (Rhodesia) Squadron in 2nd TAF, Germany:- www.petermcleland.com Cheers, Peter.
  2. I'm busy preparing the various FS9 destinations of the 50th Anniversary Ferry Flights...I finished Malta and Cyprus yesterday and today I'm working on Teheran. I know it is not real World but I'm re-creating something I took part in 50 years ago.
  3. Thanks gents...Sorry!...Only just seen this
  4. Thanks Keiran...Glad you enjoyed it. Yes it is something different. I don't believe it has been done before in Flight Sim. The twelve scrambling fighters are all AI Traffic Sorry if you have already said it and I missed it, but what program did you use to get all of those AI aircraft in those formations AFCAD and Ttools in FS9 :great:
  5. The battle formation for the flight out to Kenya was tested today and here are three snaps that I took in the process:-
  6. Yes, very sad...At least they won't have to search a deep ocean this time to find the various "Black Boxes".
  7. Thank you Joe I've had a couple of reports of it being too wide and losing its right hand side...Anyone here seeing that?
  8. Thanks Kieran, I think I have managed to attach the music now...It should play for about the first 20 slides
  9. 208 Squadron in Kenya... Some time ago I compiled a little booklet on this subject and I have now finished printing and distributing it to surviving squadron members. I have just made a Powerpoint slide show of the booklet and here are nine of the 150 slides:- The slideshow is mainly about people and places and many of the pictures have been shown on this site. However, for anyone who is interested, I have uploaded the presentation (100 MBs) and it can be downloaded from here:- http://www.petermcleland.com/powerpoint ... _Kenya.pps The download will take at least 5 mi
  10. The only book I can think of with my name in it a few times is a book called Venom by David Watkins
  11. Joe, Thanks for visiting my site...Have not yet got around to my Hunter time there I found the most challenging position was number three...I always found it awkward looking hard right away from my throttle hand. I flew in aerobatic teams for a total of nearly seven years...Four in 2nd ATAF Germany in Venoms and nearly three in Kenya in Venoms and Hunters. I also did the Solo aerobatic displays in Kenya. Number four in the box was probably the easyest to fly normally but was more difficult when formation changes were involved.
  12. Simple...The others go round him ...on the line up used that would only mean two aircraft would need to divert slightly...A worse case is a failure with a number 2 or 3 in the sections...This involves slight diversions on both sides. In practice the aborting aircraft is very soon ahead of all the unstick points and everybody will be going over the top It was fairly uncommon to scramble a squadron...more usually a pair or a four with occasionally on a big exercise two fours. I did once scramble in a twelve on an exercise in Holland. I made this scramble just for a display item which I wil
  13. Glad you enjoyed it Joe My Avatar is from a press photo of me standing beside my Hunter "Echo" XE609...I was on 208 Squadron in Nairobi from 1959 to 1961:- My avatar was taken the day we got this picture over Kilimajaro:- However, I was not flying Echo that day as it was u/s...I'm flying "Lima" XE544 in the "box". This is "Echo".
  14. Here is a slide show that I made last year after a reunion at Old Warden... http://www.petermcleland.com/HunterReunion When it settles F11 will go to Full Screen Mode and start the slide show by clicking the centre Icon at the bottom
  15. Here is a quick and dirty video of the Squadron Scramble...I will do something more artistic when I get the time:- Best watched in HD(480) and with the sound turned up...Note, I'm filming from the other end of the runway with zoom and you won't hear any sound till they start their take-off roll

  19. I've just completed the work on this and here are some shots of the twelve Hunter FGA9s of 208 Squadron getting airborne in one minute and five seconds:- I've managed to squeeze the twelve traffic Hunters onto the concrete ORP. ...the "gaggle"! 20. Hi Joe, Thanks for the comments...Well the sound on that vid is not too brilliant anyway, but my Mrs is away till tomorrow so I enjoyed the luxury of the speakers with a "woofer"...I'm normally confined to headphones Yes, I will post screenshots here as and when I make a batch BTW...I like the way you have dressed this site. It is very pretty. Cheers, Peter.
