I don't know where you purchased your Dash 8 Lucy, but I believe it is now P3Dv4 compatible. Take a look here. http://majesticsoftware.com/mjc8q400/news.html If that aircraft is all that you need FSX for, go for the update and you should be good to go with your yoke. (Hopefully)

Hi Lucy, Have you tried plugging it into a different usb port? This works for me most of the time. I'm also using FSUIPC which I calibrate my yoke with. Hope this helps. Brian

Hey Dan, I reiterate what John has said, Thank you and all service personnel for your time OOA. Our son was also on Op Herrick, so I know a little of what you've all been through.
