wisemanp 0 Posted January 16, 2008 Report Share Posted January 16, 2008 Having downloaded the 9Dragons Kai Tak, and consequently fallen in love for it (it's a man thing...), i thought i would share some shots of my development on and learning of the infamous IGS 13 'Checkerboard' approach. China Eastern A321 over the CH VOR, heading on 270 radial for waypoint 'Golf', the new Chek Lap Kok airport visible Closing in on the checkerboard, and being stunned by the scenery! Years ago I read a great article about that approach, written by an airline pilot who was routinely flying there. He said that when he was flying the approach in bad weather and the co-pilot was looking, he'd judge the turn at the checkerboards by waiting until he could see beads of sweat on the co-pilot's forehead in his peripheral vision. Great shots though and cudos for getting a plane down on 13 Heres a decent vid on youtube. (Not Mine!!)
