Alabeo releases PA38 Tomahawk

Recommended Posts

It's a nice looking aircraft and they included some nice panels too. Add in the different legs that it comes with and at a reasonable price, I think they have a winner. Mistwalker has already poured quite a bit of fuel through his from what I hear. :) I have a few items on my must have list but think I will skip down the list and get this one today. Those bush tires will come in handy at Misha's Hilltop strip. :thum:

Alabeo have released their PA38 Tomahawk. http://www.alabeo.com/index.php?accion=product&correl=95

I don't have much time for FSX at present, but as I learned to fly in one of these I'm definitely going to take her out for a spin - literally!

I remember back in the late 80's I used to spin one of these however one day I looked back at the tail as it was spinning and was horrified at the amount of movement on the tail , so I straightened it up, and I have never spun another plane since. Shortly after the cancel all aviation company withdrew the right to spin these planes as they considered it a problem , as memory serves there was something about strenghening the tail with doublers etc , did they then allow them to be spun after the mod?

I have to agree with Kevin.

I also put in a few hours in this aircraft during my student pilot days. Spinning it was my first experience with unusual attitude flying and I guess it's a good thing I never looked over my shoulder. I had one instructor who was happy to let me spin it and another who used to get a bit green around the gills during spin practice. No-one ever mentioned the possibility of the tail falling off. I believe Canada allowed spin practice long after the US had terminated the procedure. I guess it is less dangerous to teach awareness of the cause rather than hone skills to correct a mistake. Personally, I'm rather glad I had the experience during training.

Great little airplane.

The only issue I have with this addon is there doesn't seem to be a master avionics switch. Other than that it is great! If anyone knows of the switch please let me know :)

For the record I have not had the tail come off during my simming ;)
