Andrew Godden 943
So, the next epic adventure of this obsessed flight sim addict begins, the ATWC V. With at least 34,420 nm ahead of me, this is going to involve some flying, and low and behold, Flight Leg 1 is barely going to make a scratch on it. Oh well, all I can hope for is the best possible weather, but I may as well wish for the lottery. Flight Leg 1 is Aurigny's Flt 502 service from Southampton (EGHI) to Alderney (EGJA). With a scheduled departure time of 0935, we received our IFR clearance, but on pushback, it looks like we are going to be at least number two for departure. Cleared for departure on Rwy 20, we had the expected hold before climbing into the muck. A 22 kt quartering headwind has us behind schedule and this wasn't helped by the long track to the west after being told to expect a visual approach to Rwy 08. Finally, though, the island and EGJA loomed out of the haze of the Channel and we finally disembarked at Gate 1. Until Flight Leg 2, fly safe. Cheers Andrew

mutley 4,495
Good show Andrew, those are horrible aircraft to fly in, done it once, never again!!
hifly 925
Good show Andrew, those are horrible aircraft to fly in, done it once, never again!! What do you mean Joe? OK they're noisy but if my memory serves they are the best selling UK aircraft design ever. I can testify that by having seen the twin engined version at many out-of-the-way airfields in the Asia-Pacific region. Andrew, great pix, shame about the cloud cover. Horrible aircraft, huh! The sim version's a goodun too.
allardjd 1,853
Structurally that's a horrible place to hang an engine. I guess it worked out OK for the 727 and DC-10 though. John

stu7708 244
Now Andrew, I knew you had a few crossed wires in that noggin of yours, but to undertake the full ATWC on your own is just madness... and to make it even worse you helped plan it, so you know exactly what you are getting into Despite your madness I wish you luck on your endeavours, you will need it
