mark.hudson6 0
These are pics from me trying out my new camera for the first time at East Midlands Airport. I reckon I need a lens with a wider field of view. Kept having to stand well back from the planes. Anyway, hope you enjoy them. Cheers Mark  Thanks for looking. :-)
simi_av8r 0
Mark, had i known you were going down there today i'd have made my excuses to the in-laws and met you there! They literally live just a stones throw away. I hope the team answered any questions you may have had. I know most of them very well through my dealings and membership of the EMA Aeropark Volunteers Association (AVA).. Some really lovely images there, i cant see anything wrong with them or the lens! Its a shame however to see the EE Lightning all covered up, and it looks like '575 might have cold feet.
mark.hudson6 0
Simi, I never realised you lived so close. I never went down today though, It was a few weeks ago. Went down with a mate and his son and daughter. The guy who was there tried out his photo quiz on the kids and they really enjoyed it. He also said they will be painting the Vulcan in the original scheme (white I think he said) soon. We went down there originally to photograph the planes at East Mids but with it being misty we ended up here and I'm really glad we did. Were going again when the weather improves and will let you know. Cheers Mark :-)
mutley 4,498
Mark, That's a fantastic collection of photos, I know what you mean about having a wide angle lens. What camera are you using as the resolution is excellent? Cheers
mark.hudson6 0
Thanks for the kind comments. The camera is a Canon 400D. Still getting to grips with it. Cheers Mark :-)
Martyn 9
Great pics Mark, took my dad there for his Birthday not long back. Nowhere else have I met such enthusiastic staff! I'm trying to get to grips with my 400D, are you using the stock lens and automatic mode for these shots? I'm looking into buying some new lenses/filters but find the whole thing confusing! mark.hudson6 0
Hi Martyn, Still getting to grips with it myself. I just got the camera body and the lens is the Canon EF50mm f/1.8II. Some of the shots are with the auto mode, but some had raw images on the flash card so must have been in some other mode but I can't remember which. All the pics have been processed with Windows Photo Gallery (don't tell anyone), I have CS3 but that's a whole other story A lot of the shots seemed under exposed and washed out but it was a very misty grey afternoon. Lots of practice needed I think :???: Thanks for helping me pic the camera (over at Just Flight) I'm very happy with it. Cheers Mark :-)
hello_basil 0
It seems we have, practically, a family of 400D owners on this forum! Those shots are great, shame you're using a fixed focal length lens although I do admire the low apeture! Once you get to grips with it - you will produce much better shots! I always have a Hoya 81C or 81A Warmth Filter on my lens to bring up the warmer tones and to get rid of the murky tones, works a treat - they retail for around
mark.hudson6 0
Cheers Basil, Any advise on an affordable, suitable lens would be much appreciated. Cheers Mark :-)

mutley 4,498
I permanently have attached a Hoya Skylight 1B just as a protection to my more expensive lenses. It seems we have, practically, a family of 400D owners on this forum!Except for me! :???: .. Dare to be different Cheers
