Leg 105: Prague (LKPR) - Frankfurt (EDDF)

Recommended Posts

hi Guys,

Just a heads up for my post tonight of Leg 105. I've been asked by the Mut himself to crack on with the challenge in TAP321's absence (LEG 104 i believe is still required to be posted).

I've just about entered German airspace for my leg and will be contacting Berlin Air Traffic Centre very soon... technical difficulties - i.e. my machine crashed due to a severe power cut- however have meant that i'll need to fire up the sim again and set me self up from where it crashed, but there's a good few images taken from the taxi and rotate sequences, and also a brief detour over the historic city of Prague with a few of the sights.... other than that, the flight's been very uneventful so far and is literally a straight course, even using just VOR's and ISEC's

take a deep breath....... post to follow shortly

Great shots and a wealth of information. Will the rest of the flight be posted sometime or is the next person to get on with it ?

It's a shame the EE seems to be having so many stutters what with Partial flights, missing flights, and no shows being flown at short notice by others. Seems the others sections flew so smoothly and i really expected the EE to be the cherry on the cake.

I know what its like when a PC decides not to work anymore for no apparent reason so hope you can get it all to rights simi. Thanks for posting...

Well done, Simon - thanks for posting early. Prague airport looks a lot different to 1971, when I was there last (Where's your zimmer frame? Ed!) - but the old town's not changed much, well, not from your screen shots, anyway!!

Look forward to the next episode - take care of Sharon.....

Cheers - Dai.

hi guys, thanks for the kind words, its appreciated. I really got into the flight, especially since its all hand flown given the lack of any form of auto-pilot or GPS in the Cherokee 180F - all the gauges are steam driven!

Part two will, hopefully, get completed before the week's out. If our friend John from the other side of the pond wants to go ahead and start Leg 106 by Friday we can keep the challenge rolling...

Hi Simi,

I loved this first section, it's well up to your usual standard of quality and entertainment.

I am really looking forward to part 2. Sorry to hear of the PC crash especially when you are well into an enjoyable flight.

Cheers

All,

...by way of explanation and public apology to Simi, I need to explain myself. When I first read this post very quickly, I was between two social events, each of several days duration and involving some travel. Both were extremely positive things, but I was feeling under some considerable time pressure to make the Leg 106 post after the completion of the first, but before the commencement of the second. As a result of my quick look at Simi's posting, I missed the fact that it was incomplete - a work in progress.

I very hastily made my Leg 106 post without realizing that Simi still had the baton. I returned tonight to catch up on the forum and looked again at leg 105, this time with the intention of taking a good look and leaving some feedback.

I'm sincerely sorry for posting out of turn and stealing the thunder from Simi's second half, which I hope will still be forthcoming. My error was not a consciously rude and disrespectful act, but resulted from an oversight.

John

Hi John, thanks for that, but it really wasn't necessary. I knew that part 2 would be a short time off and did suggest you took on your leg in its absence...

Unfortunately (for the challenge - not me!), i'm on my MacBook and it just won't run FS9 under BootCamp with its Intel GMA3100 graphics chip, the Hard Disk of my main PC was severely corrupted by the power out and i was only able to partially recover my HDD, and then i kept getting SMART errors, so i ditched it.

I'm slowly getting FS9 back up and running as a priority on the new pair of WD Raptor's i installed with Raid-0, but its taking secondary priority at the moment i'm afraid, as i'll be moving house in the next couple of weeks so trying to get everything boxed up and ready for the move.

Part two will follow, alothough it may be a couple of weeks of yet folks, sorry.
