Bruce (a.k.a. brian747) 142
I suddenly realised I've not flown the checkerboard approach since fs9 (that's, er, at least seven years ago) so I had a sudden urge to try it in the PMDG 777. The first attempt was a no-questions-asked go-around (just as well I always brief for them!). The second..... well <*cough*> I did manage to get it down in one piece, but there were some pretty hairy moments. Watch out for the TV aerials! Er, is this what they call a stabilised approach, boss??? Yeah OK, I didn't think so. They do say that any landing you can walk away from...... Has anyone seen my nerve pills? And please don't slam the lid of the box! Best fun I've had in fsx for ages: can't wait to try it again..... Cheers, Bruce a.k.a. brian747 &c.
brett 2,310
Aren't go-arounds just an excuse to take in the sights. Looks like lot's of fun, what scenery did you use? I wonder if the homeowners used to glue everything down.
hifly 925
+1 I love it too, tests your skill and nerves, a great ride. It was nearly as much fun RW as a pax.

Should be a walk in the park if you are low & slow but anything heavy and fast is another story. I flew into there RW a few times and the bank just before touchdown is alarming There's some great RW crosswind landings on youtube.
mutley 4,495
I'm pleased to see the livery still in A1 condition! Thanks for sharing Bruce, it's good to know you are still vlying! Joe
Bruce (a.k.a. brian747) 142
Thanks, guys! This flight was just a sudden impulse (dunno where it came from, but then most of my flights are like that) but now I can't wait to try it again. And yes, it's the FlyTampa VHHX: what's more, when used along with the DX10 Fixer the fps never dropped below 30 throughout, to my surprise (considering the density of the scenery). You do need to make a few changes and additions to your Navigraph files to be able to access the procedures from the PMDG FMC, of course. @Joe: Only occasionally: still wrestling with the rain coming in...... UKJim 502
Those approaches are fine in my opinion - as long as you don't end up in the terminal I don't see the problem hehe Good shots mate - I am also taking a break from flying at the moment (unfortunately got bought battlefield 4 and expansions for xbox so hitting that atm) Still checking the forums though
britfrog 180
I have had the fly tampa version since it was released but also havent flown it for over a year. As I dont really fly very long distances I used it with image simulations VHHH (chek lap kok) so would take off from VHHH and that puts you onto the ids approach you can then do an overshoot and go bach to VHHH , I cant say Chek Lap Kok as it comes out sounding like a proposal one makes in a red light district However you have renewed interest in the region and will like you have to reaquaint myself
