britfrog 180 Posted March 17, 2014 Report Share Posted March 17, 2014 Quite what the parachutist was doing landing in front of an aeroplane God only knows , it is not as if he could not hear it coming, Still accidents like this do happen Iwas at lashenden/headcorn when a girl dropped into the front of an islander on the ground and was kiled, what made it even worse was the pilot was her boyfriend. On another occasion at Thruxton a girl dropped into the blades of a hovering helicopter, ever since then there has always been a rule on the DZ that all props must be stopped before the jumpers exit the a/c Link to post Share on other sites

The AC is pretty crunched up - engine dismounted, everything forward of the firewall is rubble and the firewall appeared damaged. The tailwheel was driven up into the bottom of the fuselage. The parachutist, about 50 years old was treated and released. The pilot, in his 80s, was kept overnight for observation and was a little banged up but is OK. He was doing touch and goes - this was his third. No word in the original article how it came to happen but that guy in the parachute is really lucky the prop missed him. Also lucky it happened so close to the ground. At 30' he'd probably be dead - maybe the pilot too. The AC went in nose first, but from not very high. Aircraft is a Cessna 170.
