Triple Monitors, Displayport and Daisy-chaining

Recommended Posts

I am getting a new graphics card, Titan Black, that supports daisy-chaining 3 monitors with displayport.  My monitors also support daisy-chaining.

Will daisy-chaining the monitors degrade performance over using 3 separate cables from the PC to the monitors?

Many thanks for any help,

Silver

Hi Silver and welcome to the forums at Mutley's Hangar. :welcomeani:

I'm sure you will get an answer if you are patient, as many folks run more than one monitor. You need to consider the time zone differences of all the members here when awaiting replies to tech questions. I'm just guessing here but if your new card, cables and monitors are made for running it with three, you should get minimal picture degradation, but FSX is old so I can't say for sure.

Make yourself at home, I think you might like it here. :)

I havent tried daisy chaining but have run 5 monitors from one PC through a triple head and a double head with no noticeable impact the double head was VGA and the triple head a display port one.

I am now running only 2 monitors from my PC now and these are both direct from the card as i no longer have a card with a display port init, otherwise i would experiment for you.

I would give it a go and see what happens.  I cant see that it would cause too much of an issue myself.

After much experimentation I have found that Nvidia surround will not work with displayport daisychaining.  You need 3 separate cables to get Nvidia surround.

Thanks for letting us know the outcome of your results Silver.
