Hi,

Can someone tell me where I'm going wrong please.  I have FSX set to not detect collisions as I read somewhere that FSX has a habit of spawning the plane in the middle of another plane.  So I just flew into the Scilly Isles, and misjudged the landing rather badly.  Touched down on the runway, then ran off the end.  Straight off a cliff, into the sea.  At which point the plane seemed to bounce back into the air and I flew a circuit and landed (reasonably properly this time).

However, absolutely no damage to the aircraft.

Is this just a limitation of the FSX engine?  Is it that don't detect crashes setting that stops AH detecting a major problem?  Or am I missing a setting somewhere?

Confused...

Hmmmm....a spawning problem. That sounds fishy to me.

badum tish.

I also fly with CD on, and have never logged into another aircraft. There was a couple occasion with some Lukla scenery, and one of the NA vol. 1 airports, that logged me into a bunch of trees. I wish I had thought to turn CD off in those cases...would have saved a long flight to Lukla just to check that scenery out.

I'd suggest leaving CD on unless you encounter a spawning problem...or should you need it for Helicopter practice, or other necessities.

ahem...

:whis:

On landing in Sicily, without my C.D,

I misjudged my approach, and crashed through some trees,

I flew off the runway, and bounced off the sea

I just came for some meatballs, oh why me oh meeeee?

:P

If you have crash detection off, the plane will bounce off the ground(in most cases) and you can try and regain your flight. Sometimes in gets stuck on the ground and you will need to spawn the aircraft or end the flight.

I believe AH should catch it most times and you will certainly have some cargo complete damage and non delivery or partial, if not. Sounds like you lucked out. ;)

I had an issue with AI planes taxiing into my parked not moving, engines running BEACON AND NAV FREAKIN' BRIGHT HELLO LOOK AT ME lights on (sorry for the shouting... <_< )

So I went into the options of FSX and disabled plane to plane collisions, but I left ground and object crash detection on. Will this interfere with Airhauler? If I botch a landing, which considering I'm learning more about the legendary DC-3 after flying trikes, WILL happen I'd like the damage to be recorded realistically. However I'm sick of the blind AI pilots driving their planes into mine on the ground.

I've never had it spawn a plane on top of me, but fsx frequently spawns me in the middle of a car park at my home base (Hawarden EGNR) so I think I'll leave it off for now...

Thanks for the replies all.
