ATWC Hijacked by First Class Simulations

Recommended Posts

Sounds familiar?

A new piece of software being released by First Class Simulations on the 20th June.

Around the world in 80 flights! Circumnavigate the globe, heading east from the historic Farnborough airfield in the UK, on an epic 80 leg journey around the world. Fly over the Alps and Pyrenees before facing the challenge of the mighty Himalayan range. Explore the Far East and Australia. Blaze a trail from the frozen north, to tropical Africa. Conquer the lonely Pacific, leapfrogging across a series of islands as you make your way to the United States. Make landfall and catch your breath before flying over some of the most stunning scenery in the world as you head across the vast expanse of the USA to the Caribbean before venturing a trans-Atlantic crossing back to Farnborough.

Each of the 80 flight legs can be flown as individual or consecutive missions and are comprehensively detailed, with a flight plan, pilots notes, full briefing and a guide to many of the wonders of the world that pass beneath your wings. From man-made wonders such as the Great Pyramids and the Golden Gate Bridge, to natural wonders such as Mount Kilimanjaro, the Sahara Desert, the Indonesian Archipelago and the Grand Canyon, the entire route has been carefully chosen to showcase the breathtaking beauty of the planet.

Also included is a stunning recreation of the 1937 Lockheed Electra 10E aircraft flown by Amelia Earhart for her world record attempt, with many of the flights dovetailing into Earhart

One of our members uses that tag line that industrial espionage is the sincerest form of flattery. I can't remember who it is, but someone uses it on JF and I think they're a member here too.

Not that they needed James Bond to filch the details of this.

Mmmm, I can see why you would be annoyed. There do seem to be a fair few similarities. But on the other hand, the 'around the world' thing has been going on for years and a globe is the obvious symbol for a program orientated on global travel. Its a difficult one really.

How about sending a calm/polite e-mail to the publisher(or developer)?

Hi Martyn,

I agree, around the world is not a unique feature, there are similar things going on all over the place.

It seemed too much of a coincidence when I saw the writing on the aircraft!

Phil, you have hit the nail on the head there :mrhappy:

Cheers

  • 3 weeks later...

They're starting and ending in Southampton and using the identical name and acronym. If you believe that's a coincidence, I have beachfront property in Chad to sell you at a great price.

Hey, Joe - I'm really sorry - I just haven't seen this thread before, but I'm just as p*ssed (off) as you for this outright plagiarism! And, I tell you this, if they've included a certain young lady with a name starting with Sh.... (you know who!) then I'll be round there personally.

Still, like they say: If you can't beat 'em - join 'em! And we just did - so there!

Thanks for the ATWC, Joe - it's ours - we did it - they can't take that away from us.

Cheers - Dai.

So where is this Low-Class Simulations outfit based, anyway? I've never heard of them. Have they published other things?

John

Hello John,

They are a reasonably sized company over here and do publish quite a few well know titles.

Cheers
