hifly 925
Another good one Loic, made me homesick for the IOW. Whose scenery is that because they have omitted the West Yar river that should be just below the nose. FTX gets the geography pretty correct even down to the breakwater at Cowes harbour, the narrow breakwater that I fell off when I cycled along it. Had to swim ashore and retrieve the bike at low tide. Happy days!

hifly 925
Ok thanks Loic, maybe my geography is awry but in the first shot just under the nose wheel is Afton Down site of the IOW festival where Hendrix played one of, if not his last concerts in front of 500,000 people. I was too young to go but I heard it from 12 miles away in Cowes. @ Brett, I waded through the slippery, smelly mud to get it. Character building stuff when you're nine years old. dodgy-alan 1,587
Love the IOW as an environement, It's not too far for me to fly from Goodwood (EGHR) and there are couple of little clubhouses at Bembridge and Sandown. In real life I can see IOW from the beach at Bognor! Nice capture Loic. The Islander is a nice little bird.
hifly 925
There's something unique about the IOW, a great place to come from and a great place to go back to but to live there... It's a bit like New Zealand, 30 years behind the rest of the world. Oh and my big sis took me gliding from Sandown and Bembridge. :)

I arrived in New York a couple of weeks after Woodstock and I was back to Europe a couple of weeks after Wight !

iangbusa 2
Reminds me of the many times I've been sailing in these waters... I have similar memories - or perhaps not... Overnighting in Yarmouth harbour and being decidedly ill over the side. Had sailed across from Poole in choppy seas that day but it wasn't seasickness. I'd just spent too much time and money in a couple of the local pubs that night. Great sailing. Great island. Great scenery. Great pic. Well done!
Corsaire31 419
I was born in Saint Malo, across the Channel. I was sailing races on several boats from my hometown around the late 70s - early 80s ( IOR half tonners and one tonner) Every year we would come across for RORC Championship racing like the Channel Race or Cowes-Dinard. Great memories !
