dodgy-alan 1,587
Just asked the missus, she says No as it won't fit in the living room!
britfrog 180
As much as I would like to see this stay in the UK there is no way the CAA will allow it to ever be flown here. Someone has already tried. So hopefully some foreign wealthy person will buy it and get it airworthy. otherwise it will stay in the UK as coke cans
J G 927
What a beautie. I hope it goes on show in the UK. If the brooklands museum can have a Concord moved by road, I dont see a problem with its inability to fly.
brett 2,315
I could live on that Shackleton. It would be great to see it restored anywhere though it does have a certain worn in personality that is like a comfortable pair of old boots, it will be sad to lose it when the aircraft is re-done. hurricanemk1c 195
So the two main viewpoints here are: 1) It should stay in the UK 2) The wife rules
brett 2,315
That might be in the wrong order Chuck.
allardjd 1,853
Yeah, the wife rules should be rule #1 and rule #2 is that if rule #1 does not apply, see rule #1. John
J G 927
I would suggest that there be another rule. You cant have it if you cant beg borrow or steel the money to be able to afford it. Again, if this rule cant be satisfied then the wife rule doesn't apply. However, there is a problem with this rule. In order to satisfy it, it may be necessary to rob a few post offices. This is difficult in the UK as we have very limited access to the kind of hardware needed to do this, thus there is an increased probability that the Shakelton will go abroad. Even if it is purchased by an Englishman, you will probably have to go to Spain to see it.
