Hello, does anyone remember me?

Recommended Posts

Or I remember how this forum works? Hmmmmm.  Oh wow my profile was so far out of date!

Hello Mutley's Hangar!! :bye:

The Red Barron here a.k.a TRB!   How are you all? Well? Good!

I used to be quite regular here (some will remember me I'm sure); and then life got in the way (or rather my education did.)  You see I'm still the young. tender age of 19, so I disappeared when both my GCSE's and A levels kicked in.  Flight Sim (or any gaming really) got put to the side so I could focus on my education (I still intend to one day, get paid to fly for a living) so I quietly slipped out.

For those wondering my A levels will be English Language, Geography and History.  I say will be, as I'm having to re-take the second year of A-levels as I had three consecutive months off last year through illness.  Apparently missing course content puts you in a bad shape for passing the Exam, who knew!  (I've been allowed back this year, as I had exceptional circumstances and didn't take my Geography or History exam)  Although I did take my English Language exam, and despite having three months off, still got an A on the Exam.

Yes I will be going to Uni (having a gap year first though) to study........ Primary school teaching (Elementary for our US friends) YES a MALE Primary teacher, rare I know!  (Although I did work for 4.5 week full time in a primary school after my GCSE's and loved it after the first morning, and have carried on working in them since, there's just something about teaching, especially Primary that you can't really explain to people, especially the feeling you go home with at the end of the day)

Anyway, enough about me, how about the Hangar?

Well things have slightly changed haven't they? planning a sixth ATWC? Really?!? I remember saving the fourth section of the Second ATWC!

New members (Hi!)

More things I'll workout with time

Although I have to say, the reason I came back? Because this is still one of, if not THE friendliest communities on the web, especially concerning flight sim.  It seems like we are all one big happy family, that just seem to get along (unlike other FS forums, no names but shouldn't be hard to work out)

I've posted a few screenshots in the respective forum (please take a look! Please?), one of which is from my new(ish) system (two weeks old!).  My last one died so I'm slowly updating to a new one (have new CPU, Motherboard and power supply, case) other parts will come soon, looks like the Graphics card will be ordered in the New Year.

I look forward to interacting with you all again (old and new members) and I'm sure I'll soon be back into the swing of things!

Thanks for reading and comments welcome

Ed (TRB) :)

I remember TRB, so welcome back to The Hangar.

Nothing has changed, we are still the friendliest flight sim forum on the web.

You will be back into the scheme of things in no time at all.

We have new members and some very old ones (including myself) ;) so settle in and we are looking forward to seeing your posts.

All the best

Brian

Greetings Mr TRB.

Actually my daughter used to have an interest in teaching. She works in IT now but for quite a while it was a possibility.

Look forward to your student loans. :D To be honest though, we are lucky in the UK, not having to pay anything back until earnings reach a threshold, and then quite reasonable payments.

Bit different to our friends in the US, who I gather can still be crippled with debt and huge payments for many years, into their 40's and beyond.

Hi Ed,

Welcome back and thanks for the real life update. I still have the picture of you holding the ATWC baton at the Weston show but I won't (potentially) embarrass you by posting it!

All the best and I hope your year off / uni and career are happy and successful  ;)

Does this mean that TSR2 is back as well?  :D

Cheers,

Joe

Thanks for the kind words all, seems I made an impression and have been missed.

I will look forward to them, I've actually applied to Northampton Uni (where I live) so I can stay at home, and only have the fuel bill to pay myself, which I'll have thanks to placement anyway, just to save money.  The payments are quite low, my History teacher last year told me he was paying about £45 a month and he is on a fairly good salary for a teacher (according to the last Ofsted inspection anyway) but no one pays them back, the highest they can charge is something like £100 per month, and that's only if you earn a considerable wage.

Probably forgot the login details!  As for the baton picture, those who want to see it, can find it easily on the forum without to much hassle, I found it within a few minuets of logging in.

Welcome back Ed! I'm currently at uni doing a course in Transport Operations and Technology (if anyone wants to look, here is the course details) after doing fleet control for two weeks and loved it. Study pays off!

To be honest I was a bit apprehensive when I first walked into the classroom, but after being given a group of students to work with my apprehension vanished and I soon gelled with both the children and the teaching staff.   I kid you not, the class went for morning assembly, and it was just me and the teaching assistant in the room, who asked me how I'd found my first hour and it was then that I realised what I was doing, with the pride and satisfaction I was feeling.  I'd never considered teaching before I worked in my old primary school at the end of my GCSE'S, but have chosen to venture into teaching because it's something I enjoyed and found highly rewarding yet demanding which sums up my approach to most things! Hard work pays off!.  No two days are the same, it's hard work;  yet immensely satisfying and leaves you with a great sense of achievement.  Nothings impossible, and you can find your strengths and things you enjoy in all sorts of places, even those you'd never considered!

Never looked back on those 4.5 weeks, best thing I've ever done.  As for the study, well! I'll have Uni work as well as marking, lesson planning ect from placement to complete!  Joy!  Thankfully I'm not one for parties and I don't drink!
