Bruce (a.k.a. brian747) 142
Marniftarr has come out of hiding, and EZCA (a.k.a. EZdok) is seemingly under development again, with the stated intention of supporting P3D and FSX-SE. The 1.18 changes are as follows: 1. Support of all versions of a simulator of FSX-Boxed, FSX-Steam Edition, Prepar3D V2.4 (V1 is not suppoted). 2. WorldCamera works in all versions. 3. The mechanism of operation of WorldCamera has changed. 4. Repositioned EZdok cameras in the simulator menu. Now there is no need to launch the configuration utility every time after installation of a new airplane. 5. The configuration utility has changed. It is a version 2.0. Actually starting with the version 1.18 we do a connection to the version 2.0 interface. Version 2.0 is in the works and will likely be a small upgrade for existing users. But you can use some version 2.0 interface features now. 6. If WorldCamera doesn't work for you, we created a service utility to search variables in the simulator. This may allow your WorldCamera to work. The utility works for FSX, FSX-SE, and Prepar3D V.2 (no support for P3D V.1. 7. Remade EZCA starting algorythms. 8. Processing of a mouse and the keypad in external DLL also happen now by means of DirectInput. 9. Many system mistakes found in 1.18.0 version are eliminated. For the download link, and instructions on how to install the beta, go to http://www.simforums.com/forums/ezca-1185-beta-available-for-download_topic51089.html Although it could also be a very good idea for you to also visit the FAQ page to view the known bugs: http://www.simforums.com/Forums/faq-troubleshoot-ezdok-118-bugs_topic51147.html Cheers, Bruce, a.k.a. brian747 P.S. I haven't tried it myself yet: at the moment EZCA v1.17 is fighting with GSX, so I can't have them both installed together — so until that problemette is resolved any version changes are frozen.... mutley 4,495
Thanks for the heads up Bruce, updated for P3D is great news!
stu7708 244
Great to see EZDok is back in development. Will give it a go when I can find some time to sit down at my Virtual Cockpit.. What issues do you have with EzDok and GSX Brian? I've got both of them installed (although just the GSX-demo at the moment), and I have had no issues with them working together.. Bruce (a.k.a. brian747) 142
Hi, Micke! All I did was install GSX v1.9. It had the effect of causing an error message from EZCA/EZdok at the very end of the FSX loading process, followed immediately by a CTD of FSX. <sigh> The only way of getting FSX to get as far as the selection screen is to uninstall GSX (and no, going back to the old version doesn't work either, FSX still crashes). :-( So at present I can't run them both. :-( I spent hours messing with various reinstalls, but to no effect. And since life is extremely busy for me at present, I haven't had time to dig any deeper. The next step (when I can....) will be to completely uninstall and then reinstall them both. Ah, the happy hours we spend with FSX, hmm? Cheers, Bruce a.k.a. Brian747
stu7708 244
Sorry, but I can smell a complete FSX reinstall coming your way
Bruce (a.k.a. brian747) 142
<grin> Thanks, but no way, no way, and never, Micke! With my FSX scenery and airport files occupying around 150Gb on my SSDs (apart from the O/S, and FSX itself of course), the last time I did a reinstall it took me a fortnight to get everything back on my disks again. That experience affected me deeply, so reinstalling fsx is NOT an option. Instead I have a triple backup strategy: disk images, straight directory backups, and bespoke batch files of my own using robocopy to mirror only the changes, so that as a result the batch files only take minutes to run. Consequently, I haven't needed to do a reinstall for many years, and I fully intend to keep it that way! (Having spent decades advising government institutions, oil companies, banks, and the like about their backup and recovery strategies, I'm hopefully unlikely to be unable to recover from any hardware failures myself). Famous Last Words, of course.... But I can certainly live without GSX's cosmetics if I have to: as long as EZCA is functional (and it is), I'm happy enough. Incidentally, I note that 'Virtuali' offers to fix this particular GSX problem by remotely tinkering with the sufferers' machines. He's not going to tinker with mine, that's for sure; and also I have to question why he is unable to simply publish the fix? Hey ho: just yet another strike against FSDT and couatl, sadly.
