I beat my head against the wall with this for about an hour and a half. I finally came to the conclusion that it was not in Britain, (those mountains didn't look very England-like either...) and that the Blenheim Palace clue was either a red herring or that there was some cultural connection that was going completely over my head.

So, for the sake of a confused American, what's the Blenheim Palace clue all about? :doh

Hi John,

This airport has an intersection leading to Blenheim Palace?

There is a road controlled by traffic lights that intersects the runway and it's called Winston Churchill Avenue who was born in Blenheim Palace.

Does that make sense or was it too cryptic?

Did the Queen sing about this place?

 We will we will ROCK you

Stop "monkeying" around Gareth

Gibraltar Monkeys or Barbary Macaques that live on the rock.

Monarch and Iberia both fly here

Factual clue

Cheers

I missed "monkeying around" completely. Dug through Queen's "discogrophy", but didn't pick up on the Rock. Knew about Churchill being born in the palace but didn't know about the road across the runway at Gibraltar.

I found three places in Britain that Iberia and Monarch both serve, but of course struck out on all of them...

Well, good clues and a good hunt. Sometimes you get the bear, sometimes the bear gets you. Bear 1, me 0 for this one.

No posts doesn't necessarily mean no one is looking.

Hole in one Martyn! It was in fact your post about its short runway and Ryanair's hard landings on it that made me want to fly there - now I fly E190s (half the size of the B738 but still) there for the VA and it's one of my favourite destinations. I thought you'd be the one to get it. Over to you :-)
