Some weekend Play, Work, and more Play.

Saturday I took the A2A Cherokee to my favorite mechanics at Angwin Parret, Ca. To install some new Fancy Pants.

After:

And then went for a quick moondance in my new shoes:

That same night, Saturday, I had a pilot go sick, and I had to step up and haul a load of mixed cargoes to Reno from Mt. View...just a pretty shot on the way out of the Bay Area and the Night Environment lighting behind the lovely Bain and Brown Livery by JanKees. (Might have to zoom in and shut of the house lights to see the plane, night screens are a challenge to take :( )

And today I got a chance to practice some close in formation flying with a fuel probe, in Dino Cateneo's Boeing T45-C. Still can't put that probe anywhere near the plane without driving it into the cockpit...so wobbly station keeping about 3 -6 feet away is about as close as I can get so far.

Nice mate! I cannot see the plane lol but I am on my phone so not a huge screen.

Do you paint your own liveries? I would recommend it as it is very satisfying when you have a unique plane just for you ;) Takes time but worth it in my opinion. It's another area in this wonderful flight sim world to consider.

I would love to do my own liveries...but don't have Photoshop anymore, and don't wish to pay a monthly subscription for something I will only ever use occasionally. I am an ex Tshirt artist and could make some nice paints...If I can find an old copy of PS 6-8, I would be happy as a clam in mud sauce...but I gave up looking after a couple months. I tried a couple of Freeware paint programs and all of them had me pulling out hair either trying to learn how to use them, or finding out that they can't do what I want them to do (missing tools/features I came to depend on in PS...and I can't deal with trying to figure out "workarounds" that take an hour for what would have been minutes in PS [specifically making precision masks].

I have done ONE color change livery of a Carenado Mooney...which took way too long in MS Paint given it was mostly just a hue change.

And I did this bizarre thing...which involved a lot of copy and pasting over the old textures basically:

Cheers.

Some great shots in both posts and also an interesting livery too!! :thum:

Ever wonder why pants are not called spats?

I still use Paint.Net freeware version, it's not full featured but it is easy to use and does what I need it to do.

I use photoshop but gimp, paint.net are both great alternatives. It's a shame cuz I bet given your background you would be great!

Lettering does my head in as it always looks pixelated and I've checked lots of tutorials and tips for settings etc to no avail.
