Lightning Edit!

Recommended Posts

Hi Chris,

Great idea and effect.

I do feel however the position of the lightning would mean that you would not see it on the runway and maybe a little more flap on takeoff?

Sorry probably hyper-critical :blush

Cheers

Thanks Mut, i always love some Constructive criticism.

And i thought the lightning would not be reflected "that" much however for this shot i would break a rule to give the shot more of a striking appearance!

And the flaps, i think they are set at 5, not totally sure though however i do remember i had a very light load as i was making screenshots!

Thanks a lot though guys!

Hey Chris,

I really hate to criticise any work other than my own but I feel it's good to see it from another's perspective.

I appreciate the time and effort put in to all your shots you have a fantastic artistic flare and this proves it

Must be my turn soon to edit a shot. Perhaps we could set a theme just for for fun?

What do you think?

cheers

Hmm, well thanks for the criticism, i really like it so i can improve!

And as far as a theme...

Maybe an aircraft with engines mounted on the rear, perhaps a 4 engined craft, water capable, helicopter, military, civilian..etc!

Then there is even possible scenery locations, but that im not to good on!

Yeah i like the idea of themes

That would be one hell of an aircraft!

Let's see if Steve has a comment as he is the forum leader here!

Aw, jeez, I was expecting a P-38.

Good idea John

Cheers

First off the the effort put into this shot is obvious and if you wanted to create a stormy wet horrible day you have succeeded. Obviously you have what it takes to do great edits and through criticism you will improve much faster than without which is the great thing about forums...lots of critics

Ok here comes the criticism

The lightening is actually in the wrong place. If you think of the ground as a big flat mirror ending at the horizon then everything will reflect in relation to its position on that mirror. The trees and aircraft are about spot on but the lightening reflection is just above the trees but in the picture its high in the sky, as such it would not be seen in this shot.

Apart from the above i would maybe of greyed the background a bit. Such heavy rain reduces visibility somewhat the further you look, the worse it should be. With such a wet runway the reflection should also be very vague and blurred. This is mainly due to heavy rain splashes making the reflecting surface very uneven so the reflection becomes less apparent.

Please don't take this post as putting down your work as you clearly have the skills

As for themed shots i'm all for it, it gives direction and is interesting to see how each person creates something quite different from the same idea. For a theme, take 3 moderators, each chuck in a word that will contribute to a shot, post these on the forum for people to make a shot using these random words. Maybe a brief discription on how the words fit your picture. The mods could vote a topshot and that person could choose a word for the next set. This of course is just an off the top of my head idea

EDIT by Mut see new post for ideas viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1868&p=12627#p12627 :thum:
