dgor 0
Hi all, Some shots of today's flight for you. Exactly follows real-world airline schedules, this one, and that's not something I do very often. Aircraft was the PSS 777-300ER. I was unable to find some decent scenery for Singapore-Changi, but am using the excellent VHHH2005b scenery from Avsim :-) SQ862 "Singapore 862" Singapore-Changi - Hong Kong-Chek Lap Kok Intl Dep 11:00, Arr 14:45 (flight time 3hrs 45 mins) Boeing 777-300ER Route: WSSS VMR1C VMR M771 DUMOL IDOS1B (I think!) VHHH Crz Alt: FL350 step to FL390 Cold and dark at a fairly quiet Changi, the 773 waits to be woken up for its first flight of the day. After an uneventful boarding and pushback, we taxi to runway 02R. Note how I am going through the interactive checklists. Taxiing past another SQ 777. Lining up, and going through the final checks. We give the cabin crew a "bing-bong" with the No Smoking switch to tell them to take their seats. The tower can hear a massive roar as the massive GE90s accelerate us down the runway. Because it's so easy to tailstrike in the 773, the rotations tend to be quite shallow, and therefore it's quite hard to keep the IAS below 250kts, even with de-rate. Climbing to 8000ft on the VMR1C departure, some grey clouds hovering above us. Up past FL170 now, we're about to switch the altimeters to STD. Next it's up to FL270. Note the ND and the T/C mark where we will reach FL350. Turning at VMR (the waypoint you saw on the ND in the previous shot). In the cruise, with Thailand on our left side. The weather radar is warning us of those clouds up ahead, hopefully ATC will allow us to go around them. Just after making our step climb up to 39,000ft. I'm very fond of the SQ livery on the triple seven, it looks very smart. Starting our descent back to terra firma. Like I implied above, I can't really remember what STAR we took into Hong Kong. It was IDOS-something. Anyway, here we are flying it. Getting lower over Hong Kong now, with Kai Tak (now VHHX) in the background. Truly breathtaking scenery to fly into. The airport scenery also adds quite a bit to the city and adds plenty of ships, which made for an interesting approach. So did the bridge. Cargo ship crossing slowly below as a 777 in full landing config roars overhead. This was my first full autoland in the PSS T7, and I have to say that it handled it perfectly. Final few feet before touchdown now. I love how the wheels hang on this model. After the main wheels hit the runway I disengaged the AP and gently lowered the nose onto the tarmac. Taxiing in. Hong Kong looks as busy as ever. The huge 777 parked at the gate, beside an Orient Thai 747 (out of shot). Passengers are off, and the crew took this shot from the terminal. Hope you enjoyed all - comments are welcome as always! :-) Cheers Dave

JoeEllwood 0
Me too! As always Dave - an awesome presentation! Although, I've never quite grasped the logic of autolanding in the sim :mrhappy:
