H0r1z0nFSX 0
Hey, I am New Here My Name is Bryan but I prefer if you guys Call Me H0r1z0n, I am A flight Sim Enthusiast and Airplane Enthusiast I absolutely Love FSX,P3D and airplanes Except Steam FSX But Won't vet into that,I own a Demonstration Team for FSX Called the FSX Snowbirds don't be confused with the DCS Virtual Snowbirds we have no Ties with them right now we are inactive due to lack of Pilots I am Also A Live Streamer on Twitch @H0r1z0nFSX. I like Flying My Majestic Dash 8 q400 Pro Edition I like Most Carenado and Alabeo aircraft l absolutely love the PMDG 737NGX I love the Aerosoft Airbus X 318/19/20/21 the Aerosoft Twotter. But let's get To why I am coming to this Fourms, I have Recently bought a High Range Spec Computer the Dell XPS 8700 Special Editon I payed $900CDN for the unit the Specs are CPU: i7 4790 (Not The K version) Ram: 16gb 1600mhz GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 745 (OEM) 4gb GDDR3 GPU2: Nvidia GeForce GIGABYE GTX 750 1GB GDDR5 OC (Taken Out of my Computer Due to Performance issues with FSX) HDD1: Segate Barracuda 2.5tb 7200rpm drive HDD2: Western Digital Blue 500gb 7200 Storage Drive (only plugged in when needed) HDD3: Segate Barracuda 1tb 7200rpm dirve ( Win7 Ult with Win10 Home 64bit Layover not in use but has FSX Gold W/T Acceleration Installation) OS: Windows 10 Pro 64bit FSX Version: FSX Boxed Gold Edition W/T Acceleration. UKJim 502
Looks like you are familiar with fsx and this may seem like a silly question but have you done any tweaks to the fsx config? I have the K version of the processor you have. The tweaks I do to my config are quite a few but main ones are highmemfix, jobscheduler, bufferpools 0. I think it depends on autogen and such you may want to look at your memory usage on your gpu. A lot of people here know this jazz too so hopefully you can find more info too. allardjd 1,853
Welcome to Mutley's Hangar, Bryan.  Something caught my eye in your first post...  FSUIPC 2.90   The current version for FSX is 4.948 and the one you cited is years out of date.  Maybe just a typo?  If that's really the version you're using I'd sure try upgrading to the current one.  John

allardjd 1,853
I believe a little experiment is called for using the new version. Â Â Kind of beside the point but if PMDG's WX radar won't work with the up to date version of FSUIPC it sounds like PMDG has a problem. Â If someone hasn't already told them about it, they need to hear that loud and strong. Â That seems kind of out of character for them - they are a high end vendor and are usually pretty good about things like that. Â It may be that the out of date FSUIPC is not your problem but if it is, you have a choice to make - no WX radar in your 737 NGX or "my Flight SIM is very very unstable I can't do a flight From KSFO To KSMF with out it CTD or randomly Closing with out warning also I have Disappointing FPS issues and Smoothness issues. I also Get CTD when alt tabbing out and Alt tabbing in I use full screen DX9." Â Â I know which one I'd choose. Â John

allardjd 1,853
  Yeah But if FSUIPC isn't the issue. What do I do...  Uninstall it and put the old one back in.    ...and did you want a screen of my Nvidia Inspector Settings  No, it wouldn't do me any good.  I'm not very well versed in that kind of thing.  Someone else may want to see it - if they do I'm sure they'll ask.  John
H0r1z0nFSX 0
Ok I am just getting Fusterared with FSX I mean I bought a new Computer for FSX and I am having all of these issues. allardjd 1,853
There are guys on this forum who ARE experts and I'm sure they'll be along to offer you their suggestions.   Your install and suite of add-ons is a lot different than mine and I can't really offer much in the way of knowledge here.  That FSUIPC thing just jumped off the page at me and I still think it MIGHT be at least part of your problem, but then again, maybe not.   It's best to go at these things systematically and try one thing at a time to see if it makes a difference.  FSUIPC seems like an obvious candidate.  Dowson doesn't write updates just to fill his idle hours - when he releases a new version there's generally a reason and he's released a lot of new versions since 2.90 if the numbering sequences mean anything.  As far as I know, FSUIPC versions for FSX all begin with "4".  Those with "3" are for FS9.  I have no idea what the "2" signifies - FS 2002?  John  EDIT:  I just did a search and found a reference to FSUIPC version 2.90 on another forum in a September 2002 posting.  It's pretty old stuff and actually pre-dates FS9, never mind FSX.  JDA

Bruce (a.k.a. brian747) 142
Hi Bryan! And welcome to Mutley's Hangar. If I understand your frustration correctly, you are experiencing unexpected Crash To Desktop issues. In that case my suggestion would be that you go to this link (you will need to log in to Avsim) and download the document. http://www.avsim.com/files/file/65-avsim-crash-to-desktop-guide-for-fsx-p3d-fs9/ Work your way through the document, following the instructions in the guide for what to do after getting a crash. Hopefully, that will give you a good start. If you need our help, please be sure to give us essential information such as precisely what led up to the crash, and the exact text of any errors that appear onscreen (or elsewhere, such as in the Event Log). Usually, a methodical approach to the problem pays dividends, but you do have to be prepared to deal with CTDs patiently and systematically, rather than hoping for a quick fix. H0r1z0nFSX 0
The Thing is that the CTD creats no Error log and I have checked all the error logs  and my flight sim is very unstable
brett 2,315
Hi Bryan, you do not say what your settings are set at and I also see that you have changed the TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096. You might be asking too much from your PC even if you purchased a high end computer. FSX is still and older coded program that expected PC's to gain larger cores instead of splitting them so is very CPU intensive. It also acts differently on every PC it runs on. You can check out Kostas tweaking guide https://kostasfsworld.wordpress.com/fsx-software-and-hardware-guide/ but you also have to find that middle ground where FSX will run comfortably on your PC and that is something that takes time. There is always a little give and take in settings. You also might want to check out the payware Steve's DX10 Fixer which could also help stabilize things.
H0r1z0nFSX 0
I Have taken a look at kosta's guide and i have steaves DX10 fixer but it makes things even more unstable
allardjd 1,853
Have you monitored FSX and your addons with the Task Manager as you're flying to see if there's a memory leak or a CPU hog at work?  You can sometimes get a clue to what the culprit is by monitoring that way.  Speccy too will help by telling you if your CPU or GPU is operating optimally or has shifted down to second gear due to temperature.  I have to keep an constant eye on my GPU - it has a tendency to run hot - I've caught it over 100 degrees C.  Processors automatically shift down to lower speeds to protect themselves when things get too extreme and they don't tell you about it when it happens, except through poor performance.   You say you've looked at Kosta's guide but don't say if you're in some semblance of conformance with it or not.  If you are and the problems persist, I think the only reasonable approach is to uninstall all your FSX addons, maybe put your FSX and graphics card back to default settings and then rebuild one piece at a time, testing as you go.  When the problem begins to re-occur it's one or more of the things you've already re-loaded, or your setup is not optimized.   Brett is right - every PC seems to treat FSX a little differently.  There are so many operating systems and setup options within them, display cards, tune-able parameters in FSX and so many addons on the market that everyone's FSX sandbox is unique.  It makes troubleshooting these things somewhat frustrating and it's difficult for others to just reach out immediately and put their finger on your problem.  When a FSX installation is as complex as yours and a quick fix doesn't come easily to hand, you really need to bite the bullet and go at it systematically.  Strip it bare, put it back one piece at a time and test, test, test in between.  It's a lot of work but you'll be flying in the meantime so it's not all that bad.  As you add things back in it will become better and better.  The end result will alleviate a lot of your current pain.  You may get lucky and someone will come along with the silver bullet - there are some pretty sharp cookies in this hobby of ours - I've seen some pretty amazing rabbits come out of people's hats around here.  But if it doesn't play out that way, think logically and hunt it down systematically.  In the long run, that is likely to be the quickest way through this.  John
Bruce (a.k.a. brian747) 142
[Later edit: it seems we were typing simultaneously, John!  ]  Hi Bryan!  > "I have checked all the error logs"  But which ones? All the ones you know about, obviously — but unless you give us the details we can't know whether you have checked the relevant ones.  > "my flight sim is very unstable"  OK, but that statement gives us zero information with which we can help you. When you read the Avsim document you will discover how to obtain information about the module which caused the crash, which may give us something to go on.  Also, Brett's comment about TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096 is very relevant when your hardware is taken into account. The 'Dell XPS 8700 Special Edition' is a 2013 machine with an i7-4770 processor running at 3.4GHz, so its speed is modest for running FSX, by today's standards. Furthermore, its motherboard has only a single PCIe x16 slot for the graphics card, with just a single PCIe x1 available for future expansion, so quite how or why you are contemplating a second GPU I'm not at all sure. Since the i7-4770 CPU is not the K edition, overclocking is not going to be possible (and the tightly-specified 460 watt power supply and single fan would rule that out anyway). In other words, if you max all your sliders to the right on that machine, you are guaranteed to have stability problems.  Have you tried the old trick of saving your fsx.cfg file somewhere safe (so that you can reinstate it, if required) and then deleting the original, so that FSX rebuilds a standard configuration file when it restarts — and do you still have CTDs with the new fsx.cfg version? If the CTDs don't return, you could then run the new fsx.cfg through Bojote's automated FSX Tweaking & Tuning Service and see whether the CTDs occur then.  But you do need to approach this methodically.    Cheers,  bruce a.k.a. brian747
wain 879
I would be very tempted to just try a vanilla install of FSX, set up a test flight using the same conditions and locations, just loading up and a short flight, thern slowly start adding and tweaking things under the same conditions, may just be one thing causing you the big issues. I know its a pain and very frustrating but sadly with FSX there is no quickfix.  Wayne
Andrew Godden 943
And just to throw something else into the mix about Steve's DX10 Scenery Fixer. Â Unless you have this configured correctly across all three applications, FSX, the Scenery Fixer, and NVidia Inspector, it will cause no end of problems. Â Having said that, I ditched it in the end and just incorporated the tweaks between FSX and NVidia Inspector and my version of FSX has never been so stable - and that's on an older i7 990X Extreme CPU. Â Just more food for thought and confusion.
H0r1z0nFSX 0
My Computer came with the i7 4790 not the 4770 and the reason why I don't Use the DX10 Fixer and DX10 beca it makes everything go slow motion the Pan switch is really slow and I have tried P3D V2.5 and it was all slow motion and I dont know what caused I had that issue with DX10 since the First install of FSX aslo I don't know how to see what mods are working or not and I just want to point something interesting that may be one of the culprits ever since I did that Masive Win10 1511 update my FSX became really unstable like crashing with out any warning it will just close randomly also when I tab out and tab back in the sim will just close al by its self and the FSX CFG should tell you what my sliders are
