Tweaks/Settings?

Recommended Posts

Evening all, Installed my FSX last night and my ORBx, REX and some UK2000 scenery. I've had a look at some tweak guides and settings but I seem to be really struggling with fps when on the ground at airports. I see other people at airports like Bangkok with their sliders maxed getting an easy 40fps but I'm sitting with 14 at Glasgow :( Is there anything new that I am missing? I can post my fsx.cfg if that helps?

Thanks!

I used this guide which helped immensely https://kostasfsworld.wordpress.com/fsx-software-and-hardware-guide/ and as with FSX on different computers not all tweaks help. Best to use the basic tweaks and then test as you go along.

It is not always a good idea to peg all the settings to the right and expect good FPS, many of these guys on videos edit them and have OC'ed to unhealthy levels. Keep testing and find your FSX setups sweet spot. Also don't sweat the FPS number, find the settings that visually look good while flying and shut that fps number off. :)

Hi Dan,

To be honest, your settings are only relevant to your PC. The sim is so resource hungry that you may have to tweak the scenery sliders back to an acceptable mix of speed and quality.

You can get no better advice than to read the "Bible" written by Nick here http://www.simforums.com/forums/the-fsx-computer-system-the-bible-by-nickn_topic46211.html.

There are only a couple of changes you need to make to FSX.cfg "himemfix" being the most important. Also consider getting Steve's DX10 fixer http://www.mutleyshangar.com/reviews/bc/dx10/dx10.htm many people have had performance and quality improvements using this tool, including me.

I hope that gives you somewhere to start.

Cheers

Thanks guys I will have a look and maybe cut back on the slider it seems I may be a bit greedy, the sim looks fantastic but I loose about 15fps on the ground. I've got the mem fix in a a bufferpool line added into my config.
