Pretty little Starlet

Recommended Posts

Whilst looking for some new GA stuff last night I came across this little cracker. The Corby Starlet. It's an Australian Home built aircraft which by all accounts is very popular. I can see why, it's delightful to fly, handles well, and ideal for bimbling around the countryside. You can fly it withthe canopy on or off, just press the red button on top of the stick. She is docile enough for a gentle cruise but also very manouvrable, flick rolls and turns are fearsomely fast! There isn't quite nough power for a full aerobatic display but give her enough height and she's great fun. She will not fly level inverted for very long so give yourself height if you want to do so as she tends to head downwards very quickly. A  simple well laid out VC completes the package. The only thing I cannot seem to get to work is the canopy opening, when Shift=E is pressed the message flashes up that it's opening when in fact it isn't. That is the only fault I can find on the aircraft and I can live with that. She comes with several liveries including a blank for adding your own paintjob. Anyway if you fancy this little bird, here's the link ; corby_starlet.zip

This then is the Corby Starlet.

Nice and fun little plane, I used it once during my last winter Down Under tour. In fact it all started with a video of a real flight of Corby Starlets around the place where I was (virtually) and I looked for the plane in FSX addons.

For the canopy, if I remember, you need to grab a handle with the mouse inside the cockpit and slide it backwards.

Yep, agreed, downloaded this and am enjoying it a lot.

I confess to fiddling with it a little bit:

reduced toe brakes from .52 to .45...it was nosing over every time I stepped on the brakes.

Wikipedia says that up to 85 horsepower Rotax motors were used in there, .cfg said 75 hp...i bumped that up to 85 ponies, and increased the max manifold pressure to 32.0 from 29.0.

I found it flys inverted just fine, so long as you keep an eye on the VSI and push accordingly to keep it at 0vsi.

Also added a GPS/Autopilot combo as a pop up window... and adjusted the .cfg to allow that to work...and it makes a terrific little 250lb cargo racer. :D
