Dear All

I have just refreshed the Chillblast Systems banner at the bottom of the forum highlighting the availability of VR headsets with FS systems. :dance3:

Please click through the banner even if you are not up for a new rig, just to get up to date with the latest and greatest systems. <drool>

There's no jiggery-pokery going on behind the scenes when you click, like selling your soul to the devil etc. just a plain old hyperlink!

Cheers,

Joe

Just the normally expected temptation, and drooling, and appeals to the lottery gods....jeebuz those systems look sweet.

Wondering if now or soon is a good time to 'Buy British'...or have y'all been increasing prices to compensate for the lowering/Brexit-ing pound rate of exchange vs USD?

Cheer up though...if our elections go as badly, you might see a turn of fortunes after November...at least compared to US.

Not to sure I would be interested in a VR headset but if I lived in the UK I would buy one of their PC's(have done my own drooling over a particular rig:woot:) in a heartbeat.:yesa:

Agree about their PCs.  Looks like great stuff, right up there with the best I see available here.

As for VR headsets, this is copied in from another thread.  If you value your privacy, or if you share my view of the little twit who runs Facebook, consider this before buying Oculus Rift.  The quote is from the article linked below.

...says Oculus will collect "Information about your physical movements and dimensions when you use a virtual reality headset."

So we're talking about tracking the movement of your body, and then sending that information to Oculus, which is owned by Facebook.

And later on in the privacy policy, Oculus explains what it can actually do with this information. Among other things, it explicitly talks about marketing, and using the Oculus Rift "to measure how users respond to our marketing efforts."

Users have discovered that the software you need to run the Oculus rift is configured to run all the time, in the background, reporting back to Facebook.

So to recap — we're talking about a system that's always monitoring, tracking your physical movements, sending that info to Facebook, and using it to tailor marketing messages to you.

I'll take a look at these allegations John, I will be reviewing one of Chillblast's VR systems soon so will investigate what is running in the background.

It will be an Oculus Rift device with this PC http://chillblast.com/chillblast-fusion-nimbus-2-rift-edition-flight-sim-pc-designed-by-matt-davies.html?category_id=495

I sure don't mean to cast any aspersions on Chillblast - they give every appearance of being top-shelf and on a par with JetLine systems, whose offices you and I visited on your last trip here.  If anyone is any better than Chillblast (UK) and JetLine (US), I'm not aware of them.

The problem, according to the article I linked, seems to be in OR's Privacy Policy, which, though available to users, is one of those things 99.9999% of us don't bother to read when making a purchase or installing an app.  I hope it all turns out to be male bovine fecal material.
