Leg 3: EGPR Barra to EINN Shannon

Recommended Posts

Thanks to SWVA7337 for an excellent leg2, how do I follow that?!

As you can see it was raining on his arrival, it hasn't stopped badmood.gif

My aircraft arrived the next day, this is a new acquisition purchased from an infamous airline, can you guess what it is yet  :dance2: The baton safely stowed.

As yes Bryanair, the Irish subsidiary of METjet, this allows me to have some fun with the paint brush. The engines have warmed up nicely, this is around 11am and it's dull as ditch water.

atwc2-004.jpg

Barra is not that well modelled in FS, the runways are supposed to be on the sand but hey ho. A small edit to cheer me up.

atwc2-008.jpg

A great STOL aircraft is the Twotter, I am going to be flying her a lot. Banking Steeply after take off, I can hear the baton hit the floor!

atwc2-010.jpg

I am pleased to be leaving that behind.

atwc2-010a.jpg

We're above the thick layer of cloud and into the clearer air.

atwc02.jpg

Approaching our cruise alt of FL140.

atwc03.jpg

Topped off I remember to switch the landing lights off :doh

atwc04.jpg

We are heading towards the Tiree VOR on the West Coast of the mainland

atwc05.jpg

Now passed "TIR" we have turned SW heading toward SLG.

atwc06.jpg

You can see the headwind of 52 holding us up a little.

atwc11.jpg

All's fine according to the instruments.

atwc13.jpg

And the passengers.

atwc14.jpg

Just about to pass over the Irish coast.

atwc18.jpg

Active Sky indicates some bad weather below and at our destination, grrr

atwc20.jpg

Still at FL140. Today I am flying the modern version of the Twotter, but have the totally steam cockpit version too.

atwc21.jpg

Now as directed we make a turn and begin our descent to 8000

atwc23.jpg

Lights back on, it's murky down there.

atwc24.jpg

We can faintly see the ground.

atwc26.jpg

The GPS showing our route in.

atwc29.jpg

The map shows our route straight in to 24

atwc30.jpg

Bumpy as she goes

atwc31.jpg

At 2000 we should be intercepting the localizer soon

atwc33.jpg

She's pulling us in, keep the faith my brother!

atwc36.jpg

There she is! The lights ahead

atwc37.jpg

On Target, switching off the AP I want to be in control

atwc38.jpg

Whoops a gust takes us sideways

atwc39.jpg

The wet runway doesn't help with our breaking but there

:wow: Joe, that was an excellent post, I really enjoyed flying along with you on that leg. I only hope I can live upto that standard you have set.

Not to highjack your post -

I must add this much, my biggest regret at this time is that Aerosoft has not released the Otter for FS9, the Otter has to be my most loved AC of all, I know there is a freeware version for FS9, but it just does not quite do it for me, but the Aerosoft version is the business for me. It is the one AC that will force me to do a serious upgrade of my system and install FSX and purchase the Aerosoft Otter, and if I do that, it will most likely be all I will fly, I just :wub the Otter that much.

I have 6 realworld Skydives out of a Otter.

Now back to you Joe, your post just rocks man.

Thanks Wayne,

Aerosoft now are deliberately developing exclusively for FSX and the Twotter is a real beauty. Great flight characteristics, a 115 page manual and a sense of realism.

I love FSX particularly for GA and the detail of the scenery you can now get, it's really getting more immersive.

Cheers

Joe,

Fantastic shots! Love the Bryanair livery :mrhappy: Some really atmospheric and intense-looking pics there, I really enjoyed those. I wish the Otter was available for FS9!

And Dai, I'll be doing that exam paper in a few months! :help:

Dave
