grth_bbtt 0
a few (alot actually) pictures from today 12/11/08 with the fire service. alot of airside pictures taken and one of the best days so far of my work experience i went round with 2 fab guys and one of which was a keen aviation enthusiast so at least i could have a decent conversation with him. we had to power to free range around the field without doing radio comms to the tower or ground control apart from when we entered runways. we litteraly started the day at 9:00pm and headed down to the training ground to start the tour of the fire ground when a BA 777 radioed the tower reporting smoke from the engine. about 30 seconds later we was right on the tail of the T7. a quick visual inspection found the findings that there was no smoke from the engine. so we followed the a/c to stand as a pre caution. with the BA safely on stand it was then time for a few shots around the field. TAP on landing view of remote stands the CT pier 6 bridge delta 767 BA and Emirates T7 the poorly 777 on stand. this isnt an inspection just a one of our many walk arounds emirates T7 on pushback from pier 4 FCA 757 virgin 747 the emirates just on finals of pushback BA tails on pier 5 the huge GE-90 on the BA T7 the front gear belly of this big bird more walking around me infront of the GE-90 some more craft parts of the T7 my ride for the morning back with another virgin 747 just after arriving then we went into the cockpit captain abbott view of easterly remote stands and pier 6 i then hopped into the land rover with the enthusiast and done a bit of spotting right on the virgins ass the virgin after rotation from the other side of the runway some shots from the other side of the runway. something you dont see everyday in your wing mirror we then done a spot of free ranging on 08L the antonov parked up that used to be on the spectators area in south terminal in the virgin hangar parking area an intercontinental airways getting some stickering after a brief we were off into the fire training ground for some fire practice :toclue: external fires in the fuesalage and engine with fire crews me at the controls of the water gun at the front of the truck then we sort of interupted the police training in the training ground

grth_bbtt 0
UPDATE today saw me down at the airfield ops dept of the field. i visited the control tower (no pics due to me bein to much into there tech) which they use touch screens instead of the bars with paper on them. a runway inspection and a another walk around all included in the pics today as well as a video (not my camcorder videos so the vids gunno be poor quality). i had to deal with a full emergency today whilst in the control room where a BA 737 came in reporting problems with its nose gear. so we had to get a few of the ops leader vechiles down to the bottom of the runway and a few emergency vechiles as well. the pilot done some holding and was confident that he would land safely. he ended up landing safely and the leader vechiles escorted him to stand. this included me having to keep the cameras in the control room on the action and have binoculars ready to see if the gear is down as the NATS ATC dont have the license to do a terra-fly by to see if the gear is down view from my dads office an easy a319 was doing some engine testing on the juliet pan pad so we had to marhshall him into posistion (in video) the easy that was marshalled in theese maybe blurry as we were goin pretty quick along 08L back up to the control flybe dash 8 on hold at alpha 1 easy just after push from stand 13 zimbabwe 767 VS 747 malta 320 atlas blue from pier 6 BA tail the intercontinental that was in painting yesturday astreus 757 easy walk around BA tails on pier 6 lets chase this FCA 767 aer lingus the de-icer or thunderbird 2 as its known :nervious: the snowgrinder what jimmy flip thing:roll:  BA t7 NWA 757 one of the old guides VS 747 the forklift used for lifting things and the forks can be swapped over for a basket for maintenance. with the basket on it is more like a cherry picker truck. few shots from the westerly parking. runway inspection 777 cockpit (the screens are very good foot rests i hear. this is on board the poorly T7 i had yesturday with the BA engineers onboard me at the nose gear of the T7 and a video including VS 747 onto stand, VS 747 landing and marshalling of easyjet a319 into juliet pan SOnnjtt0QU0 thanks for looking. Must be amazing to get up close and personal with the aircraft - they look massive up close, especially the GE-90 777 engine you stood in front of!
