rob16584 42
So it's time to kick of the next part of the challenge. I decided to take some of Reef's advice that it's not just about getting the baton to the destination, but HOW it gets there. So I thought I would fly this leg of 3 different flights using 3 different military aircraft on FS9 and FSX. It turned out to be a great afternoon's flying. So without further delay, here we go!!! The first flight saw us taking the freeware Flying Brick AKA B-24 Liverator (PC Pilot cover disk) from Riga to Palanga EYPA The locals wondered what was happening VC Isnt as good as some, but useable Almost ready And the 2nd part of the challenge is underway Leaving the airport Climbing to FL120 Crusing The model may be old but still looks good Turning and descending into Palanga Camoflage working well The tower has us in sight as we lumber around the skies Almost there Short finals I think my house could take corners better than this thing! All parked up The 2nd flight saw us hopping into a Handley-Page Halifax.. Hey there good lookin! Taxing to the hold point Leaving Palanga, this bird handles great Turning towards our next destination, Visby ESSV Fantastic looking aircraft Cruisng along at FL120 (again) Active Sky was throwing up some great cloud formations Clouds have gone, only the sea to look at Getting close to Visby and the ground All set Short finals Landed a little harder than normal We got some funny looks from the passengers in the coffee bar at the terminal when we pulled up! After getting off the Halifax it was time to have a coffee and jump into FSX and Just Flights P38 Lightning for the final leg of the journey. Close to Savsta I encountered a problem where the cockpit glass went white, so I had to switch aircraft and landed in Bat Out Of Hell. Night is falling as we board I think it is going to be a race to see if I get there before the sun sets... ...One that I don't think i'll win Lets get out of here We cruised between 4000 and 8000ft on this trip, I enjoyed throwing her around Clearing the way Flying over a container ship We need to avoid him Airfield in sight Not the usual way to scope out the airfield for landing, but it works just the same Yup, looks good to me And we are down Parked up at Skavsta, the baton is save and has enjoyed the journey. I hope that this post has made for good viewing, it sure made for a good journey. Even with all the extra eye candy that comes with FSX and it's add-ons, the freeware add-on's I used in FS9 can more than match it for the enjoyment value. FS9 is a long way from dead

mutley 4,498
Hi Rob, I really enjoyed this post, the B24 is a bit like a brick but a classic, I know John will enjoy this as his Father-in-Law flew these in the war. I like the tower shot of the Liberator it looks so real. The Halifax looks so similar to the untrained eye like mine but it looks nicer to me due to the livery. From what you say she is obviously more nimble than the B24. Great shots over the water and what a landing! The P38 is a fantastic aircraft to fly, what a performer. It's amazing how straight she flies down the runway due to those contra props. You just had to fire those cannons! Great post Rob and excellent value for money! I will update the departure board tomorrow, Marcus can you wait until at least Wednesday before posting. Cheers

CyprusAirwaysA330 0
Great shots Rob, good way to start this section off. I like the mix of three WWII bombers, the sound of those engines must of been nice.
