mutley 4,498
Interesting news from Orbx https://orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/151304-uk-ireland-photoreal-regions-coming-to-xp-afs2-and-fsxp3d/ Could this be the best of both worlds? If their aerial photography is reasonably up to date I will be very interested.
Christopher Low 63
This the best flight simulation news I have heard in a long time, Joe.
mutley 4,498
I agree Chris, a very exciting development, and as they have already purchased the imagery they will have to develop it to recover their investment. By the looks of it Jarrad Marshal is integral to the upcoming development so that should be an assurance of quality. Happy days!
Kevin Firth 114
This is a total slamdunk I would like to think that Darren and Vikki were somehow involved in secret in the background...it would be hugely apt for them to be involved in a project like this given the extent to which they pushed the boundaries with Earth Simulations.... needles 1,013
Excellent news! Looking at what Orbx has produced so far, the inclusion of PR scenery by Orbx is only going to be stunning. Thanks JV for the heads up.
phil white 274
I am looking forward to this for XP. I have many ORBX products for P3D and will continue to purchase their future releases for XP as that is now my main flight simulator.
mutley 4,498
It looks like you will be getting it before P3D Phil!
phil white 274
I’ll be certain to put a lot of screenshots up and even write a review when I find the time.

That's a fair price to pay in my mind, it's too big to deliver on DVD, it would take?, what over a 100 DVDs? I wouldn't mind giving it overnight to download but this would come as a high overhead bandwidth wise for them.
Jess-b 420
I’m excited by this, but slightly concerned about my current storage solutions. Time to go shopping I think (oh the horror!)

Time to go shopping I think (oh the horror!) No need to be concerned Jess, fast 6Tb drives are well under £200 these days, plenty of room on those for a continent or two

Christopher Low 63
This announcement has set the 2019 flight simulation roadmap for me, but I will need a new PC to run all of this at acceptable framerates (and with clouds). The problem is that PCs seem to be getting more and more expensive. I have just compiled a test specification with PC Specialist, and the price came to over £1600 including VAT Edited March 19, 2018 by Christopher Low

Christopher Low 63
I am debating what specification I will need, Kevin. I have heard that hexacore CPUs are better for P3D these days than quadcore, but I do not know for certain. In addition, do I really need one with hyperthreading or not? The i5 8600k is somewhat cheaper than the i7 8700k! I guess that I should be asking Steve Waite these questions The kind of spec that I am looking at is as follows..... i7 8700k/i5 8600k CPU (overclocked) 32GB 2666 Mhz DDR4 RAM 8GB GeForce GTX 1070 Ti
Kevin Firth 114
We could build you one for way less than 1600....especially if you have any existing components ti reuse?
