mulletman 0
Hey All... Well, did anyone watch tonight’s episode? I have to confess to being a big Doctor Who fan. Christopher Eccleston was my first Doctor (in IMHO the best doctor yet) but I have certainly enjoyed Tennant. I’m a bigger Torchwood fan, but only because torchwood does things that they can’t do in Doctor Who because of family viewing. I haven’t really been impressed by this series, The painfully bad acting in the Daleks episode in NYC, and the jokes taking a bigger part than the story line, but tonight’s episode was pure class. I’m not going to give anything away for those that haven’t seen it, but you must watch the repeat next Friday. Last weeks episode (and part 1 of that, the previous week) was also very clever. Peace and Love Fred 'mulletman' Clark. PS: You can watch episodes here; I’m not sure of the legality of it, but if you have an idle hour, check out Torchwood Episode 6. http://www.tv-links.co.uk
mutley 4,498
Hi Fred, I have seen every Doctor there is and it's David Tennant, for me, I did like Jon Pertwee but that was just a phase I went through :eyebrow: David has really raised the bar. We have not seen tonight's but will catch up with it soon. Cheers
Martyn 9
I agree Mullet, the last three episodes have been the best in my opinion. In fact, I only started watching Doctor Who after seeing the episode a few weeks back. They have some great writers
MartinW 0
They have some great writers For a class of junior school kids maybe! Actually the only episodes that are worth watching are the ones NOT written by that Russell T Whatshisface. Last nights effort was by Steven Moffat, he did a very good job, even entertained me. Original and reasonably well acted. The science behind it was laughable especially relating to collapsing waveforms, they completely misunderstood the quantum physics relating to the 'see them and they can't move, don't look and they can' stuff. Even with my very amateurish knowledge of such things it was obviously wrong, it was the laymen’s interpretation of the physics not a true interpretation. Still good fun to watch though! My advice is to watch out for the ones NOT written by Russell T and watch those, reject the others, they are very embarrassing to watch, they make me cringe. Guess the first doctor I remember? :eyebrow:
Martyn 9
I am referring to only the last 3 episodes when I use the words 'great writers'. Although the Shakespeare one a while back was also good. I dont believe the last 3 episodes were written by 'Russell T Whatshisface'
MartinW 0
To be honest Mart I didn't see the two episodes before, hopefully they will be repeated; my wife said they were quite good. The problem in this country and especially with Doctor Who is that we do these things on a relatively cheap budget. We can't afford to employ quality science fiction writers and certainly not scientific advisors. On Star Trek TNG for example a talented physicist was employed to advise on the science and some of the writing was superb. Star Trek Deep Space 9 may not have been to enthralling in regard to the plot, but the dialogue was absolutely top notch. Babylon Five, especially the movies, was phenomenal, the dialogue mind bending and the plots were superb. Star gate and Star gate Atlantis are other fine examples of great writing, great story telling, great characterization etc. The difference is of course that all the ones that impress have a massive budget compared to our BBC efforts. mutley 4,498
John, I think the answer is William Hartnell the original "Doctor Who". It was (is) a cult British TV series. http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/classic/ ... ndex.shtml Nice try though :mrhappy: Cheers,
