mutley 4,498
Show report. Weather was over cast, very windy but thankfully no rain. A brilliant show by any standard, far more hands-on than your average show/open day. It was great to meet up with ddavid, our token Welshman, from our Haverford office who I spent a very pleasurable couple of hours with talking flight sim and Hangar business, almost to the detriment of the show, where did all the time go Dai! There were quite a few sims on display including the soon to be released P51D. It's a shame the real thing couldn't make it today. The windsocks were permanently horizontal and they were taking off/landing TnG's on the grass runway 25. Bob Sidwick (RC Simulations) was there showing their replica Spitfire flight simulation controls and motion platform sim, this was very popular and a little difficult to get to the front and see what was going on. Again, time was against us. Dai was quite interested in the RAFSim stand who were running a live virtual display. Dai was keen to see the Lancaster flying but it had to wait for the inbound Hurricane to land. (which we never got to see!) We attended one of the lectures on SID's & STARs presented by a commercial pilot which was pretty light weight but entertaining. The room was full with every seat taken. We had a nice chat with Steve Halpern (The Boss!) and Mungo Amyatt-Leir the head of Flight 1 Europe who organised this event and said he was a regular visitor to Mutleys! My impressions are that it was very successful and well attended show. Despite the weather, Justin Gorman flew a display in the Extra 300L and really threw the aircraft about and put on a display worthy of any airshow. Justin was also in hand before the flight to answer questions. He very kindly opened the canopy so I could take shots of the cockpit you see below. I say "kindly" as the canopy costs
allardjd 1,853
Great shots, Joe. Very nice looking shot, but a shame about the wind curtailing activities. Good to finally see a clear and close shot of the mysterious Welshman too. The only thing missing is a shot of the two of you together. That baton does get around, doesn't it? mutley 4,498
Hi John, I take the baton to all the events I go to! (It nearly went on the Three Peaks Challenge with Martyn & Rich from just Flight!) I made the comment to Dai that is almost in need of a re-paint, a good excuse for another trip to Florida? Dai did take a picture of me (Now renamed "Tub" due to my weight gain by Dai ) on his camera. But there's not one of us both, maybe at the Weston 2010 show next year as we are both going. Dai was going to take loads of shots too but never got around to it as we just got on so well! Cheers
allardjd 1,853
...a good excuse for another trip to Florida? No excuse needed, however flying commercial with that particular object in your luggage might very well lead to some interesting and not-so-pleasant experiences. The paint may be deteriorating from having been X-rayed repeatedly prior to the original shipment across. I'm sure it must have raised a few eyebrows. A lanyard/fuse at one end would have made it even better, but I didn't think to do that. John
rob16584 42
Great shots Joe. It looked like a fun day. I flew nearby on VATSIM today and tuned into EGKA approach, but there didn't seem to be much going on at the time

mike H 456
Hi Joe, Sorry I missed meeting and talking to you at Shoreham, that's me wearing a grey top trying very hard to hide from your camera, not really I was trying to get out of the wind. I am behind the guy holding a PC pilot bag on the right, next to that lovely Extra, that was one great display . Very sad not to have seen the Mustang. It was great to have ago on other peoples set ups and to talk with like minded simmers.Would have liked to have had ago on that Spitfire rig. Never mind I did get to fly in Chris Sanders cockpit of a BF109 just fab, I wanted it but he just would not sell it to me, shame. Still I have got my free boxed BF109 from the guys at Flight1. Thanks alot Guys. Well I have spent a few hundred pounds in my head while at the show,so roll on Christmas Regards Mike H PS. That is a nice set of pic's. you took Joe. hope to meet you at the next sim show.

PS Joe maybe we could use this pic.as a Caption comp. Guess what I was saying to Dave.
MartinW 0
That was weird. That quaint main terminal is identical to the old terminal at Birmingham airport. Now the cargo side.
