...just a shot in the dark here guys... but i'm going to say that its Bowness Airfield on Lake Windemere...why, well here's what i think after some investigations:

  • [*:i55x7ghf]Oscar Wilde wrote a 4-part comedy called "Lady Windermere's Fan"

[*:i55x7ghf]William Wordsworth was born and raised in Wordsworth House in Cockermouth, Cumberland

We have a Winner!! Well done, mate - excellent detecting - I'm really pleased you 'joined up the dots'! :thum:

So, it's over to you..... :whis:

Cheers - Dai.

:wow: go me! :thum:

Thinking back to when i started to join the dots, the first thing i looked at was the Sunderland clue.. and i looked for Sunderland bases...then i got Lake Windermere as a possible, and remembered from my A-Level in English the Oscar Wilde play about Lady Windermere, and with the Wordsworth clue, i just Wikipedia'd his name and finding his home town of Cockermouth just helped confirm it all...

yay me!...ok, let's see how many can ping this one.......

Time for another clue?

it certainly looks that way Mut, so here we go, another clue...

Clue: This airfield, previously a large WW2 OCU Bomber base, now holds one of the largest open-air Sunday markets in the Home Counties...

still no takers on a guess....even a wrong guess helps to narrow down the possibles...

Well, being the kind and benevolent person that i am, heres a further clue:

[clue]

This airfield was opened in 1942 as a satellite to a nearby major RAF Bomber Command station that was, at the time, home to 101Sqn. Within a year of its opening, this airfield then came under the control of No. 9 Group Fighter Command.

[/clue]

Now, if you can't get it off that, i'm stuck for more clues!!!
