Southern England's White-out

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I know there's already been a topic here for snow, but since we're back in the big freeze again, I've got some more pics! Not sure how much of the UK was affected badly today, but I know that N.Ireland and Scotland have been having a hard time over the last couple of days. Today, we got it in the South of England, and, even though the snow only came down for 2-3 hours, we got a good 10-15cm of snow...

I've made a short video, all of the photos/video clips were taken in Surrey & Gtr London.

Not my usual YT page, I know.. this one is mainly for PS3 content, but it's the account that my friends know :)

Stay safe!

George

Hi George!Nice video, that's pretty much what it looks like here too, near Southampton.

This time around we only had about 10cm but possibly more later on today, the skies are looking quite wintry right now. Cheers,Joe

Thanks for the replies, all.

The music is "Nightswimming" by R.E.M, played by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

@ Joe, have you had any further snowfall yet today? The skies were looking very wintry here too, but nothing has fallen this afternoon so far. According to the metoffice, Southern England (particularly the SW) could be in for another 10-20cm on monday/monday night, with a similar front of snow to the one on Saturday.

Cheers,

George

We have missed it so far George, expecting snow tomorrow and a big dump of snow on Thursday, looks like we are going to get a white Christmas!

I heard that too, Joe... I think it might have been on the BBC that they said we're looking at a big potential snowfall on Thursday.

A white Christmas would be lovely, but I think actual snow on Christmas day would be nice (imagine if Christmas day was the Saturday just gone)

Cheers,

George

Great video George.

Looks like you have a real winter on your hands in the UK too.

Up here in Stockholm it's been snowing all day, but not as hard as it looked on some of your shots. Not that I have really been paying much attention to the outside world with Biathlon and Cross Country relays on the television, and alot of FSX flying done in between.

Mind you, we had a pretty good snow coverage to start with. So if I would guess we have about 30-40 cm on the ground right now. If we get another 10 cm over night I might be able to convince my boss that it's better to "work" from home tomorrow :icon_thumbup:

Haha nice! I can't say things run with the same efficiency here in the UK. My Dad's working from home as soon as there's a sniff of any snow!

Cheers,

George

Well, it was still snowing when I got up this morning, but they must have been hard at work clearing the roads over night. Almost no snow on the road surface...

So I had no choice but to get to work.

In the first batch (nearly 4 weeks ago) we had nearly a foot up in Durham!

Now back in Gloucestershire and we've got 10cm or so now but it keeps falling. As more snow falls driving is becoming easier as there is actually more grip than on the sheet ice there was before!
