rob16584 42
Hopefully someone can help me with this. In FSX my Saitek pedals are fine, no problems at all. However When I use FS9 the aircraft constantly wants to steer one way or the other when on the ground. Once above 80kts (for jetliners) the problem goes away. I've checked the calibration/sensitivities and all look OK. This is beginning to bug me Any ideas? Thanks
allardjd 1,853
Quote Any ideas? Rudder trim settings? Crosswinds? An aircraft is a great weather vane and it's sometimes very apparent on the ground. As airspeed increases on takeoff roll, the effect requires less and less rudder to offset because the rudder is becoming more and more effective. John
rob16584 42
I don't think it's anything to do with the wind as they were calm and the plane was all over the place! But I'll check the rudder trim settings. Maybe creating a new 'cold and dark' saved flight will do the trick.
IcedUpPitotTube 0
This is happening to me with the Saitek X52 also. I think it is the joystick sending automated commands to the sim, and I have no idea how to fix it.... anybody please correct me if I'm wrong.
Aircraft Aviation 2
Hi Lads, Make sure "Autorudder" is turned off.
IcedUpPitotTube 0
Yes, it is...
rob16584 42
Strange as I am using it alongside the X52. Auto rudder is off, rudder trim is at 0 and winds are nil. odd
Tim_A 997
Make sure you don't have a second controller plugged in - that can often cause wierd conflicts like this.
rob16584 42
I wonder if it is because the X52 joystick can also act as a rudder? I'll make the null zone for the joystick rudder 100% and see if that helps
mutley 4,495
Shouldn't you be wallpapering?
rob16584 42
Wallpaper off and 1 coat of paint left to do and then it's over to emma with the gloss.
allardjd 1,853
You might consider setting a small null zone for the rudder pedals that you're using too. John
stu7708 244
I had the same issue with my Logitech G940 pedals in FSX, but increasing the null zone slightly took care of it. Now all I have to figure out is why the toe break axis keeps defaulting to the midrange and applying brakes even if I have my feet of the pedals....
IcedUpPitotTube 0
Sorry for my ignorance, but what does turning on the null zone do? And how can I turn it on? I have no rudder pedals by the way.
allardjd 1,853
A null zone is an area of controller travel where there is no output - i.e. a null output. It's normally used to assure the control is "centered" even if the physical controller does not always return precisely to the same place. Think of it as an electronic detent. If you aren't using rudder pedals, what are you using for rudder control? Is it a twist-grip stick? If so, set a null zone for that axis. John
IcedUpPitotTube 0
Thanks John... looking through the joystick settings....
